Mine clearing

Hi.
We played the Breackthrough attack yesterday. And we have some question about mineclearing.
Wich zone clears every engineer unit? So, do the engineer clear the 5cm x 5cm they have just in front of them? Or every engineer unit clears an hypothetical 5×5 cm zone in the same minefield they are in conrtact with?

I've always assumed the 5x5cm space in front of them.

Yes I do.

Engineers on foot (INF:ENG) clear the 5cm x 5cm in front of them. They can automatically advance into that zone (no Order required - if you want them to) once it cleared.
You cannot 'stack' your Engineer units up - and clear more than 5cm x 5cm in a turn. They can work side-by-side but cannot be rotated on the same area.

AFV:ENG clear 5cm wide by 10cm deep per turn, and the same applies to them.
