Cold Steel

It's been 3 1/2 years since I last logged on to the forum. My retirement hasn't gone exactly as planned. A few weeks after my last post in 2022, I had a heart attack. Got to the hospital and they found multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. Within weeks, they confirmed 2 other kinds of cancer. The next 2 years were filled with hundreds of doctor appointments, surgeries, treatments, and radiation. (I quit counting at 250 the 1st year.) But the Lord is merciful. The heart is now good, 2 cancers cured and the MM is in remission. Needless to say, playing with toy soldiers wasn't high on the list of things to do each day. It turns out Agent Orange doesn't play nice with the human body.

Anyway, I'm getting back on my feet and playing with toy soldiers again. I see Leon has been busy with lots of goodies while I was gone. Still don't have a US 90mm AA gun for the Ardennes, so I might try my hand at modifying an 88. Starting to put together my next order. I found a box of Korean War Chinese from a different manufacturer (that I don't remember buying or painting) that need some heavy weapons. Also need a few WW2 Russians to finish my Army.

I'll be running a Kursk game at House of Cards in Winston-Salem, NC, on Feb 26. Drop by if you're in the area.

Commiserations on such misfortune but congratulations on such providential relief.

I shall bear this in mind when next in North Carolina; not a facetious comment as I visit there occasionally to visit relatives.

Welcome back, and congratulations on your recovery.

My wife has multiple myeloma and is also in remisions, but I know exactly what you mean about the number of medical appointments. Fortunately for us the hospital is only a 10 minute drive away.
