I keep on trying to start playing BCIV for SCW and got the Libertad book for some inspiration.

I'm a little baffled by the scenarios. How many units are they? If one has battalion consisting of 3 rifle companies and one MG company. Is that a base per company, or a base per platoon? How many platoons per company. How many commanders? One per battalion? One per company?

fred.

I'm not familiar with Libertad but hopefully a couple of pointers

Are there any Orders of Battle or tables of Organisation given for the various forces? If not I would work on the assumption of 3 or 4 platoons per rifle company, and 2 or 3 platoons per support company - as this was typical of many forces.

BKC is normally played at 1 stand = 1 platoon so I think extending companies out to platoons is sensible.

Welcome on board :) ! Funnily enough I dug this out a few days ago and when I glanced at the scenarios, I too was a bit confused as it only stated Companies, but not the make up of them. I'll check later as the Army Lists may make it easier to decipher the intent.

For my general BKC games, I go with:
1 x CO
1 x FAO/FAC (as appropriate)
3-4 x Companys, each: 1 x HQ, 3-4 x Infantry Platoons (with any appropriate AT upgrades), 1 x MG, 1 x Mortar.

The additional HQ's above the norm just work for me, making the Company the main tactical element, which fits in with my reading of history.

Hope this helps?

Looking at this again I think it must have a unit as a company. The Gipuzkoa scenario has 9 battalions on the nationalist side. 45 companies of infantry. But This also seems to be way out line with the army lists in the book

The army lists in the book are just a guideline to help you get started.
The intention is for the lists to allow players to have a quick pick-up game.
They are generic rather than specific to particular scenarios. The new Helion book, referenced elsewhere on the forum, will give you a better outline of the actual forces.
