I read his book, the Naked Ape, years ago, but can't remember anything about it! He certainly had a good innings though.

I remember Zoo Time, though I preferred Animal Magic.

I read The Naked Ape, The Human Zoo and Manwatching. I remember them being controversial. Some of his ideas were "of their time" shall we say. I thought them interesting but not wholly convincing.

I was amused to learn, through the obituaries, that the chimp, Congo, that Morris had painting sessions with created a painting that Pablo Picasso was gifted and hung on his wall.

Saw this this afternoon - very sad, reading between the lines it seems he never recovered from the head injuries from a hand cycling crash several years ago. 

His ability and commitment to a second sporting career after his major motor racing crash was so impressive.

I knew he'd been very poorly for some time.

Fergus Slattery, born 12 February 1949, died 4 June 2026. Ireland and British Lions Open side Flanker. Played in all of the 1974 Lions tests against South Africa and scored the try in the last test that should have given the Lions a 4-0 victory but was disallowed. Didn't alter the fact that Slattery was one of the best open sides ever to play the game. A great player and a nice guy. A great loss.
