Great find

Really interesting to look at the roman roads and then think about some of the current roads - eg A66 across from Appleby to Barnard Castle and further west.

And further south - St Albans much more the centre of the road network rather than London.

And the bits the Romans didn't get to like Devon and Cornwall!

Edit - and the initial map shows the extend of the whole Empire pretty well

Apart from the fact that they have found roads, substantial settlements and at least one fort in Devon in the past few years. Bloody archaeologists! :D

The linked article did say something similar about Switzerland. The map key does mention settlements and forts - but I was struggling to see these on the map. 

And with any archaeology you are at the fate of the intervening years as to what might have been built over, through or just abandoned, as to whether there is anything to see, or to indicate something might have been there to excavate or scan the location.
