Anyone else want to see some chaps waving flags? Ideal for leading tanks etc.

And while I'm here as we begin the headlong charge into Xmas I can't help but feel a few models playing football (say, 10 of each British and German) would be good for Christmas truce dioramas or just modelling sections at rest.

I think you'd probably want the whole 11 for each team, plus referee, linesmen, trainer with bucket (and magic sponge) and maybe managers to fill the mould...  :-\

Oh, and obviously the proverbial man with dog for a viable non-league diorama  ;)
(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

Thats equivalent to a full range of figures, probably £800-1000 in masters alone.  Then you have master moulds, production molds .
Pendraken would have to sell 150 packs  just to break even.

Well, for mine, given that I don't actually like soccerball I'd suggest a dual-code rugby range: so 15 players a team, scrums for both league and union, linesmen and a ref.

For this one we could probably forgo the man and a dog to save on costs...  :-\

My brother doesn't wargame, but I can see him buying this many - Crewe Alexander in all the kits for the last 100 years.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

What kind of flag are you thinking?  There's a couple of standard bearers (flag pole only) in the Soviet range, along with tank commander torsos waving flags: https://www.pendraken.co.uk/10mm-world-war-ii-soviet-infantry

And if you go into the SCW ranges, either Repub or Nat, and filter by 'Command', there's a load of standard bearers in various headgear: https://www.pendraken.co.uk/10mm-inter-war-spanish-civil-war  There's also an officer pose in there that could be converted quite easily to have a small handflag in the open hand.

I was thinking of something like the soviet tank commander actually only on a walking officer with a pair of hand flags much like you'd see in semaphore. I believe that was how tanks were ordered/led for much of the first World War.

I'm half tempted to try and make one from the waving pilot pose but I'm not sure he'd look quite right without a fair few changes and my sculpting skill is... lacking.

QuoteThis sort of thing?

Possibly a shade less anime but basically yes!
I've had a half formed idea of doing Cambrai for ages and I remember seeing pictures at the tank museum showing how the tanks were led by officers using flag signals.
