A double dose of Dorking

I already mentioned these two games on the "2025 games count" thread, but as there was a lot of 10mm Pendraken loveliness on display maybe they merit a Batrep post as well.

First we fought the fictional 1875 Battle of Dorking from the (reasonably famous) novel of the same name. Phil had carved custom terrain and painted up lots of British redcoats and rifle volunteers specially. Given another turn or two, our British line would have followed the script in the book and collapsed; as it was, we held on long enough to earn a draw in game terms.

We enjoyed that one so much that we then fought a 1940 version of it. This time the British defenders definitely fought the Hun to a standstill, but thanks more to Phil wanting to get all his toys on the table than to any particular skill on the part of us British players.

I suppose you'd prefer Ramming.

What figures do you use to represent the British forces?

Chris Pringle

I think Phil used the figures from Pendraken's "Fenian raids" range, plus Crimean War for the guards.
