Cavalry

Hi All ,
I'm using a Cavalry recon unit. They deploy as if in transport I think . In game terms does that mean once they deploy I have 2 bases ? Ie the cavalry figures and a regular infantry base? Can the infantry move away ?Can I mount up again ( assuming no other factors)?

I don't think that Cavalry recon work this way - I don't think they have any need to dismount. 


I suppose if they are a Recce Support unit, then they could dismount as they can operate as a normal unit on a given turn. And then you would have a base of horse holders and a base of Infantry. 

I think that cavalry acting as transports is to represent Infantry (cavalry) units more than Recce units.

Another thought on this - why do you want your cavalry recce to dismount?

Cavalry Recce don't dismount - there's no point.

They move as if they are infantry in terrain, but move at the speed of the cavalry in the open.
This is a rules mechanism to stop players getting 'bogged down' in mounting and remounting.

You can - if you desire - make up a mounted base, and a dismounted base and have a base of unmounted mounts as well, which will move everywhere with their dismounted riders. But that is purely an esthetic thing, not a game play thing.
