We were underwhelmed when we played, which was disappointing as I'd really like the battle reports etc so had high hopes.

There was nothing bad really, but nothing leapt out as great either. Defence 4 units are really strong and massively underpointed in the build your own unit rules.

It's a case of personal taste. My experience and opinion is the complete opposite of fred's, but then it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

I have played them with 3 or 4 of my regular gamers, all of whom seem to like the rules. We have tried various historical periods from Late Roman to Wars of the Roses, as well a assorted fantasy settings. There are a few minor oddities, but then I have found that with most rulesets. If you are creating your own unit stats, rather than using the pre-generated army lists, there is the opportunity for power-gamers to create unbalanced killer armies, but as I don't play with anyone like that it hasn't been a problem.

Four games last week.

We played my ACW Petersburg scenario three times, either side of touring the Petersburg battlefields.
Report on the BBBBlog:

Then a WWII Finnish Winter War game, Taipale.
This is an exercise in inept Soviets blundering forward into the fire of entrenched and determined Finns.
It was way more fun than it sounds!

Warhammer Old World
Melniboneans (High Elves) Vs Khemri (Egyptian undead).

Wars of the Roses - Midgard Heroic Battles (Historical)

Last Hussar

First Game with For King and Parliament.
I have a couple of questions (posted on the ECW bit)

Overwhelming win for His Majesty's forces.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Tried Blood Red Skies for the first time last night, using our 1/144 planes, but doubling the ranges and movements because they look cool on my 10' x 5'table.
Four Turkish PZL-24G versus four German Me-109D. It was all going a bit meh when one of my average PZLs shot down two Me-109 in one turn!
No battle pics but here is the victorious Turkish flypast later

Just fantasy this time:
2 games of Song of Blades and Heroes, a 3-player game and an epic 5-player game
