Solo playtest of Liber Militum's Tercios

Not a true battle report per se, but I ran through a few turns of the Tercios ruleset. It's interesting, I've owned these rules for quite some time but never played. Whenever I would read through them I always feared the mechanics might be "fiddly". Sometimes a ruleset plays differently than you anticipate.
I really liked the mechanics, they aren't overly complicated (and I'm a bit dense when it comes to rules comprehension). I liked the rules and plan to play them again in a proper game very soon.

In this playtest, I had three Protestant Union infantry units (classic squadrons) versus two Spanish tercios.

Cool, thanks for writing up.

I've got these rules, but not got them on the table. I think I'm more likely to use the wide set of unit profiles to guide FKaP if we take that wider than the ECW

Looks very good.  I don't know that ruleset.  What size of game is it for?

I believe they were originally a Spanish ruleset that was translated. The maneuver element is a base representing 1,000-3,000 of infantry. Not sure how big of a game it can handle but each unit/base is given an order (as opposed to a wing or something) so I imagine that might get wonky if you have tons of units on the table.

The mechanics seem pretty straightforward and easy to digest (and I'm rather dense when it comes to rules comprehension). I am putting together a this Thursday and will post up a report.
