Next up on my painting schedule are the French 3rd hussars

Could anyone confirm if they are pale grey or pale blue please ? I'm getting all sorts of conflicting sources and images

Roussellot gives it as Argentinian grey (gris Argentin). I'd have said from looking at it, it was a cold grey (tined slightly blue). A bit of googling gives this description-

Le gris Argentin se fait en prenant du beau blanc, et en le mélangeant avec
du bleu d'indigo et du noir de composition, ou du noir de vigne ,
en très petite quantité.
WATTIN, 1776

Now that's not specifically uniform related, but probably more for painting (i.e. mixing paints for traditional painting), but it fits. So white mixed with a little blue and a little black. Sounds like you could put a pinch of blue into a light grey.

The colour was gris argentin, a light grey with a slight blue tinge to it.  Definitely not pale blue.  This site will help.

'argentin' is also French for 'silvery', if that helps.
