French Allied Divisions in the Peninsula

Hi all you lovely people...

Going to use the French OrBat for Salamanca as my 'model OOB'. 

Were there any 'French Allies' there?  I have the battalion numbers, but no indication if any of those are 'non-French'. Should it be obvious? If not, can someone point me towards something with Berg in?

Looking at the OB for the Army of Portugal all I can find is reference to Taupin's brigade containing "a Prussian Regiment". This is from the Salamanca Campaign by Tim Saunders.

You might want to check out George Nafziger's orders of battle online. If I can find the link I'll post it.

I've already looked at that, but thanks anyway, which is what is making me wonder WHERE the Allies were!! I don't really want to trog through loads of OOBs trying to find them.

Also the Artillery on Nafziger is 1500 men - does about 188 guns sound right?

I have 78 pieces of artillery in my search which seems more like it. Maybe most of the allies were in Russia.
There were also Spanish forces, but they took no part in the battle.

Not checked for Salamanca but the Swiss Rgt was certainly in Spain

78 guns says a book by Digby Smith, and if Digby Smith says it, I believe him.

Rgt de Prusse in the 6th Division; only non-French unit I can see. Nafzinger says only about 80 men
By Salamanca only 2/3rd Berg remained in Spain, and not at Salamanca.

Agree there, only the Regiment de Prusse: 87 men in a brigade of Brennier's Division, alongside the 22nd Line Regiment.
78 guns also agree, of which there were at least 7x 12pdr, 3x 8pdr, 9x 4pdr, 1x 3pdr. I suspect that 78 total includes howitzers.

Yes, most of the "foreigners" had gone towards the war in Russia, if any weren't in Russia they would have been in the assorted garrisons in Spain.

Actually I am relieved no "Allies"*, as it makes the whole Blucher OrBats easier** - all units are the same. I appear to have a couple of bits of Berg, but I may just meld them into a base, and say FRENCH, DON'T ARGUE.

*"Allies" not Allies, as in 'you going to be allies, or shall I just invade again?

**Happily got all sorts of allies for 1809, but as they are Little Wooden Men (c), I could afford to do all sorts of combinations, and easy to colour in. Plus after doing the Austrians you can get a little overwhelmed by the combos.
