Very nearly, but I was thinking particularly of 7th edition

Still not enlightened.  How is this relevant to Salute 2023?

I think its suggesting a change in the 33 years since a forum member last attended a Salute.

But 7th did not include 10mm as a scale (I just checked my copy!) so it HAD to go   :D

Sorry I can't face going into London from the South Island, I'll see you at Colours...

I quite liked the 6th edition, 7th not so much.
A lot of the classifications used in games today seem to stem from the WRG rules of the past.

An old friend once commented that playing in competitions with the old WRG rule sets (7th and its predecessors) was like sitting 6 4 hour legal exams in 3 days, and at the end your brain hurt.

Having sat my legal exams in the seventies I can assure you that wargaming with many of the rule sets around then (and WRG weren't the worst) were far more headache inducing.

Quote from: John Cook on 11 April 2023, 12:03:17 PMDon't mind London but Salute is too difficult to get to and would mean leaving Cambridge at the crack of sparrow fart to get there.  I also don't like the venue very much - too large and cavernous in my view.  It is easier to drive down to Newbury for Colours the day before, spend a pleasant evening in a nearby pub, have a decent meal with a bottle of something red, and a leisurly drive to the venue in the morning, all for not much more than the price as a frenetic trip down to London and back on the day.  No contest really.

I recommend WARFARE but it is annoying that the rail station is a mile and a half away and needs a taxi or a much longer walk than it used to be; otherwise excellent, especially if a car driver.  I seem to do SALUTE every three years, despite the venue; this year will have to be there in helping with a demo game ... and to pick up from the PENDRAKEN stand.

I haven't been to Warfare for a while and it is worth consideration, but I'd still drive down the night before.  By train on the day, I think, means going into London Kings Cross, tube to Waterloo and then to Farnborough.  Just not an option really.
