What are people using for rules for that conflict?  In 10mm of course!

I haven't actually to gaming this period yet - painting is proving slow!

But I thinking of using For King and Parliament - which are ECW rules but I don't think will need much in the way of additions to move them forward a few decades.

Twilight of the Sun King will likely be my choice when I get to it. I played a test game of it with just empty bases and it played nicely. There are also a few suggested updates available to align the rules more closely with its successors (mostly minor stuff like clarifying turn order and using standard d6 rather than average dice) as well as having some nice scenario books. When I finish my ECW project LoA is likely next on the agenda for the period.

Barry Hilton's War of the Three Kings looks good but have yet to play any games, so can't really comment on them per se. BPII would work with the tweaks in one of the supplements, the 'To Kill a King' one?

Some of the original ideas, which were originally in an earlier version (1994), are the same now but basically it is very different now and evolving.

Does unit size (figs on the base?) matter.  I had heard they were small # of figs (like 24).

I want to use my 10mm to create unit with quite a bit of heft.

In the rules, yes (18 - 24 figures for a battalion e.g.) I suppose you could double this and treat two figures as one for the rules.

War of Three Kings (or the earlier Beneath the Lily Banners) have three stands per battalion (nominally 6 per stand but does not matter) [potentially olus a pike marker base if the unit has pikes] and two stands (nominally 3 figures) per squadron.  I've played around with ~30-36 figure battalions using sample Pendraken packs and you can make anything work.
