I'm painting some WW2 planes at the moment and the early 109s are being a right headache. I've painted them in 3mm scale before and using vallejo London grey and US dark green on the tops looked great for the camo. However at the 6mm scale I'm doing now they just don't work and I can't work out which way to go with shades to fix it. I've attached a link to my 3mm for reference.

So, any suggestions?

They do look a little dark, try a lighter grey and green.

Oooh! I'm more a dark green/ very dark green sort of chap.

I use Luftwaffe Cam green (70.823) and Black Green.

Now I thought this was just a bomber colour scheme so avoided it.

Your 109 models look perfectly OK to me.  I'm not aware of any specific-to-bombers camouflage scheme.  This site is the one I always use as a guide when painting my 1:144 aircraft:

How early are your 109s?
They should start the war in RLM 70 & 71 two tone green but move towards RLM 74 & 75 two tone greys via RLM 71 & 02 green & grey.  The last being in use during the Battle of Britain.

I found a picture of my collection of 6mm germans for the Battle of Britain. The 109's are in the green/grey (which I think is Tamiya XF53 Neutral grey and XF61 dark Green with XF80 royal light grey lower surfaces)and bombers in Dk/Lt green. . I also managed to find a Fighter group with white noses as opposed to the more common yellow.

I've just finished painting various German aircraft for the BoB.
The paints I've used for the Bf 110D are,
Lifecolor UA 502 Dunkelgrun RLM 71
Vallajo 70.886  Green Grey 101 (RLM 02)
over
Lifecolor UA 503 Hellblau RLM 65

For the bombers I've used,
UA 502 Dunkelgrun RLM 71
UA 501 Schwarzgrun RLM 70
over
UA 503 Hellblau RLM 65
