Agree with MooseDontBounce.A bit premature but after the Peninsular sunshine a trip North to the Russian cold winds would be a refreshing change. Could the next non Kickstarter please be Russians 1812 in lower. I would pledge towards it today !

🐵

I would pledge towards 1812 Russians in a heart beat.

Zippee

An 1812 Russian range, would of course be in the earlier 1805 style shakos and as such I would pledge for it.

1813/14 kiwer, not interested.

monkeynut

Thanks for the info Zippee I have always thought the shako "kiwer" had roughly 3 periods;
1805ish— shako cylindrical slightly tapering at the top.
1809ish— shako roughly in the French style.
1812ish— shako commonly known as "kiwer" scuttle style.
Although there has always been uncertainty about if the kiwer was as widely introduced as some historians/artists have popularised.
It is purely a personal preference of mine I think it looks good and makes in my opinion the Russian units stand out. I've always been tempt by the "pleasing to the eye" look than historically correct image. Its a weakness of mine.

Are there any sketches of the buildings, I could be tempted by some of those?

As someone who doesn't do Napoleonics - if I wanted to do some Sharpe style games, say with Rebels and Patriots so 12 figure units. What kind of figures would I need? British Rifles being the obvious answer. And which French?

We've asked John to send us some progress pics before the end of the month, so that folks can get an idea of what's going to be produced.

Excellent, I've added you to the pledge list.  We've only got 3 poses planned at the moment, otherwise we'd have to add a 4th pose to all of the ADC/General packs.  There might be a suitable hussar officer option though, after seeing your other thread with the pics.  We've got a horse limber team already sculpted which has never been released, so the team officer for those might match your requirements.

The Confederation infantry are now unlocked as well!

Confederation of the Rhine infantry
NCR1    Confederation of the Rhine fusiliers, type 1    £5.50
NCR2    Confederation of the Rhine grenadiers, type 1 (16)    £2.95
NCR3    Confederation of the Rhine fusiliers, type 2    £5.50
NCR4    Confederation of the Rhine grenadiers, type 2 (16)    £2.95

These were influenced either by Prussian/Austrian or French-styles, with either a single-breasted or double-breasted, short-tailed jacket in the style of a Prussian/Austrian kollet or French habit-veste respectively.  The differences, once hidden by cross-belts, are such that a single figure can represent both.  Type 1 will be in overall trousers and Type 2 in breeches and gaiters (all in shakos).

I feel in terms of 10mm differentations we have broadly two uniforms (plus the earlier Potemkin and Rev War styles);
1805-11 - cylindrical shako, bush plumes, cavalry with full raupe crests
1811-15 - kiwer shako, thin plumes, cavalry in razor cut horsehair crests

I was referring to the fact that IMO (much like the French) the 'new 1812' uniform wasn't actually worn in the 1812 campaign as such but is more the preserve of the 1813/14 campaigns. Although I'm sure there are exceptions.

To accompany the 1809 'mid-war' ranges, the 1805-11 style is the correct* one.
To accompany the 1815 'late-war' ranges, the 1811-15 style is the correct* one

Anyway all this is for a later discussion as the one thing we can say is that the Russians had minimal involvement in the Peninsula!

*in as much as we can say anything is 'correct'  ;D
