Are you complaining that I gave you the wrong coat this morning ?
I'm supposed to be a sculptor, not a cloakroom attendant !  ;)

Isn't there a Scottish cloakroom attendant called Angus McCoatup?

The Salvation Army refused to take it - said it was too scruffy....

.......anyway, the Pontifical Zouaves, also known as Les Volontaires de l'Ouest, put up a terrific fight at Loigny Poupry, and add a more sombre look to a French army of the time in their grey uniforms (only the officers wore light blue).

Could I ask where you got the officer? I am building my own Pontifical Zouaves and have been breaking my brain over modelling the officers.

Leman

My officer came in the Pendraken Zouaves de l'Ouest pack from the French 1870 range. The pack only contains one officer, drummer and standard bearer, but I'm sure you could order more than one officer from Leon if you sent him a message.

Descriptions:

Officer: In zouave trousers with gaiters, short, open bolero jacket and kepi, waving sword above head and urging troops on.
Standard: Clothed as above, moving forward slightly crouched with cast flag with fringe. Flag is sturdy as it is also cast to the head.
Drummer: Marching forward playing drum with full pack.
Zouaves: All have full pack and kepis. Two poses - running forward and walking forward with chassepot out in front, fixed bayonet.

Code FPW26

The ACW zouaves in kepi would also work well as zouaves without packs, but the officer is unsuitable. You could ask Leon to sub the officer from the FPW26 pack.
