Using 2-3mm Buildings Alongside 10mm Miniatures

I'm creating some 10mm forces for playing brigade-level (using a model ratio of about 1:75) actions during the opening months of WWI on the Western Front. I'm looking to create a number of villages and towns on the table using a handful of smaller scale buildings and was wondering what 2-3mm buildings might look like in this context. Obviously they will be representational: I'm not fussed that the miniatures will tower over them! I just wondered if readers might have photos or advice in this regard.

Hi

If your trying to cover a large map area on your table for strategic games then I dont see why it shouldnt work

Try Brigade Models Small scale scenery , it should have everything you need

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Thank you for the link: I'm looking at the Normandy Village and Churches packs. A mere £11.50 (plus postage) should give me all the buildings I need, which is astounding really! I'll probably use loose Woodland Scenics clump foliage to represent large areas of woodland and appropriately coloured felt to represent rivers and roads.

If you look at the alter of freedom site it shows how to make very effective wooded areas and other terrain bits and pieces

I use 3mm buildings from Brigade, but with 6mm figures. I have put my 10mm figures up against them and I don't think it works too well. 6mm below with 3mm

Depends how you "look" at the battlefield.

I think it's Tonton who games on maps; they look amazing.  You could see this as an extension; the buildings are more "tokens" rather than realistic facsimiles.   :)

Your posts gave me real food for thought Leman :)

I don't think 10mm scale pyramids are going to work too well with 10mm Aztecs - think of the footprint!

We haven't got any Aztecs so don't worry about it :D

I should have expanded on why I use 6mm buildings with 10mm figures

Each of my bases represents 600 to 1000 men so it doesn't look right having several thousand troops marchnig past a single model

10mm builldings have a bigger footprint than 6mm buildings so instead of having 2 buildings represent a village i can have 4 or 5

I can afford a lot more 6mm buildings for the same price as 10mm

Here are some photos of a very old 1859 game using 10mm figures and 6mm Timecast buildings

Probably not too helpful especially the troops standing on the roofs

I'm actually doing another 1859 tonight so i'll take some better photos
