Title: First batch of Theme Packs!
Post by: Leon on 22 April 2011, 01:25:25 PM
Here are the finalised 5 Dungeon Theme Packs, which are now available on the website here: http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Fantasy-c21/Dungeon-Packs-sc206/ (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Fantasy-c21/Dungeon-Packs-sc206/)   Each one is designed to give around 15-20 monsters, and a little bit of extra furniture.  I've not included extra Dungeon modules with them, for a couple of reasons.  Firstly, people will have a whole load of pieces from the Dungeon and Booster packs, so can add extra's as they prefer.  Secondly, it would mean that the theme packs would have to be boxed for posting, and that pushes the costs up.

Thanks for the input on these folks!

Done!  So that completes the Gobbo pack.  I'm looking for one more pack to complete a set of 5 for release.  There were some great suggestions in the other thread, but I wasn't sure which to go with in the end.  Any preferences folks?

Heroes, sidekicks & others [pack animals, civilians...] - then you could focus on more monster-types for next time  8)

These packs certainly have a nice feel to them.

And I still agree that a Heroes and sidekicks pack would be a good addition. For starters I'd go with a Fantasy one. But maybe later you could add Pulp Heroes, Arabian Nights or Pirates? There's a lot of potential in the various ranges, but you have to find the right figures. And having everything sorted into one pack helps a lot.

Sweet!!!

I`ll be picking of each and every one of those on the list...  I`ll probably save and buy them all in one go knowing me  ;)

I'll have a pick through the codes and see if I can find 5 suitably 'Heroic' figures to put a small pack together.

I'd suggest expanding the pack to include a good selection of horoes, some doughty looking henchment, porters, servants, etc., and perhaps a few pit-ponies for hauling all that loot.

I'll have a good browse through, some stuff might be limited, as the historical ranges are a touch smaller than the Fantasy.  We do have pack mules and maybe some of the beggars...

Maybe some Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits as well? No need to do a Fellowship, though.

Great stuff so far.

A good Adventurers and Sidekick pack would be fantastic.

As for another adventure pack, why not something with the New Minotaurs and Haedusmen in, just a thought.  Though im not sure if those Cowmen conversions were for general consumption.

Take care.

Edit-

I must say ill buy them , but they will probably sit with the boxes of dungeon in my room as well :( i need to get going on these things.

I'll definitely be doing one for those, it'll be when they get released.  I was hoping to have them for May, but it looks like it'll be June now.

I'd prefer figures that aren't range heroes since you can get these as separates.

What about a pack of the dudes in the website header?  Or at least the ones that aren't in the original Dungeon Pack.

If you only want 5 go with the 2 dwarfs and elf front right, the barbarian and the elf behind him - I prefer the small over big nosed dwarfs personally.

Good call, I was just thinking the same thing today. These would make a great heroes pack, either with or without the ones that are already in the dungeon set.

Not 'Heroic' as in the heroes from each of the ranges, but as in suitably posed and look good.  The original Heroes in the Dungeon Pack were all chosen on that basis, and I used the website header as inspiration for those.

Which ones?  From left to right on the website header, we've got:
Hill Dwarf Berserker / Beggar wizard / Hill Dwarf with hammer / Wood Elf with sword / Barbarian Hero / High Elf wizard / Halfling with sword / Dark Elf / Wood Elf general / Wood Elf hero / Hill Dwarf with sword.

Thought the halfling was a dwarf  :-[

Got confused by the barbarian in the initial pack - thought it was the hero not "with sword"

So, I'd go for Hill Dwarf Berserker / Beggar wizard / Hill Dwarf with hammer / Wood Elf with sword / Barbarian Hero / High Elf wizard / Halfling with sword / Dark Elf / Wood Elf general / Wood Elf hero / Hill Dwarf with sword and the tallest knight you make from the historic ranges.

OK then, so:

1 x Wood Elf with sword
1 x Hill Dwarf with sword
1 x Halfling (I'll check on the other poses first)
1 x Knight - not sure on this one, as I don't think we've got anything big enough.  I'll see what we've got.

And we could pop in:
2 x Pack mules

Then we need another figure.  There's a regular Dwarf with a bow, or another Barbarian or Beggar pose?

Also, from the Accessories, we could use the Wizard, but we've only got 1 in the mould at the moment.  We could also pop a selection of the Artillery Equipment in, from the ECW range.  There's a couple of things in there which could be used as little trinkets.

Shouldn't the elf have a bow and the dwarf have an axe?

Just to stick with the stereotype?

The Elf with bow is already in the Dungeon Pack, but I could swop the Dwarf to an axe if needed?  There's the berserkers with axes?

How about the Skeleton Hero FU26?
Who said all heroes should be nice and healthy? Some unfortunate encouter with an ancient mage of the Ragynoc Tower could have turned one into prince not-so charming!
Six, think of all the special "undead hero" rules you could introduce! (I know I'll score some easy points with this one :) )
Plus, you could also use this mini as a dungeaon boss... two possibilities for the price of one!

Just sayin' :)

There's a couple, but that range is a bit more chunky than some of the others, and they may not look as good next to the other Heroes.

Hmm, tricky; but then I like the one with the sword from the page header, so am not too bothered about axes  ;)

What about a high elf as a knight type?  They're quite heavily armoured aren't they?

Yeah, I've actually got these sat next to me ready for blackwashing for the website.  They've got kind of quilted/scale armour, which comes right down to the floor.  The sword chap could look quite heroic?

First post here and I must say I'm beginning to love what DungeonWorld is becoming !

I refrained ordering DungeonWorld at first because of the shipping fees to Canada and reservations about "replay" value because of the "limited" number of monsters in the base set but I must say I'm pretty enthusiast about the whole thing again now that theme packs are getting released.

I did not want to order from all the different races lines to populate my dungeon especially due to the fact that to have a variety of figure poses I would have had to order several packs per race so getting a variety of figures all in one set is a pretty good idea/deal.

I have pretty much finalized my wishlist for Dungeon packs,  pieces, furniture and accessories and all that remains is populating the dungeon with more denizens so as soon as you release more batches of theme packs, especially for Undead, Orcs, Fishmen, Lizardmen, Orcs, Beastmen and Dwarves (in order of preference :) ) I will most probably make the plunge and place a moderately big order ! Or I will just succumb to temptation and order everything I have listed so far and then order some more :)

And then take ages before posting pictures because I'm such a slow painter....  :D

Well now I just have ! After reading in another thread I could make a custom order and basically make my own "undead theme pack" I asked Leon to price everything I wanted and the order was confirmed today ! I will soon be the proud owner of a pretty big and well furnished dungeon filled with all kind of nasty monsters !

And now begins the waiting.....:)

Hello all
I am a big role playing fan and am so glad you make such great high quality figures with such a wide variety. I’ve just stared to slowly to build my dungeon and I am fully hooked!

I would really like a treasure chest no dungeon is complete without some well guided treasure. You also have the disguiser in the form of a chest, would be good to use him in conjunction with a model like this

Glad to hear you like the Dungeon's!  A treasure chest would indeed be a handy thing to have, I'll see if I can knock something up.  Unless anyone else fancies having a go at a bit of modelling?

Oh sorry, I wasn`t checking post thoroughly... yep its done, I just have to paint and ink it/them. I always wait until I have a bunch to do at once, saves on varnish spray. But do one yourself anyway; as Leon said, variety is always a good thing :-)

Now I`m back from my extended `sabbatical`  I`m slowly going through all the old posts and trying to catch up on all the things I left unfinished... I`ll try and get the treasure chest(s) and `mimic` beast painted up and photographed shortly. I might even skulpt a few more and post the best results.
