Title: Battle Of Britain Film Score
Post by: Heedless Horseman on 24 August 2021, 05:33:24 AM
The film Battle Of Britain has been one of my favourites ever since watching it at The Odeon, Newcastle...way back when! I had the Soundtrack album... and replaced it when it became too scratched on an old record player!
I have often wondered about the 'woeful' comments... that The Wiliam Whalton score was replaced by the Film's Ron Goodwin score... apart from the epic sky battle sequence.
Well, here it is.

Personally, I much prefer the Goodwin score... which seems to draw heavily on the Whalton... but 'refined' to fit. The Goodwin score works for me. I cannot imagine the Movie without it. Up to You.

I'd have to agree HH, Ron Goodwin's score is the better of the two......I've always loved this film, remember going to see it with my dad way back in late 1968 just after we first arrived in NZ. That was at the Odeon too, a now long gone cinema here in Wellington.

On to my 2nd DVD of it as the first gave up the ghost.....picked it up in the Warehouse for $5 before they stopped selling DVD's.

Can't help but LOL, that the RAF band used to get 'a little miffed'... that the 'Luftwaffe March' from BoB was a favourite 'request'!  ;D

What was the score? Did the last goal count or did VAR disallow it? 🚫
