Title: Burrows and Badgers 28mm anthropomorhic animals
Post by: Duke Speedy of Leighton on 13 January 2021, 03:34:56 PM
The Leighton Buzzard crew have all got into this, so I thought I would jump on the band wagon for when/if games get going again!
The Free Beasts of The Well of Ashes:

Led by L'otter Napaspeur, female Otter mage, who has a grudge against Royalists.

Her second is Bowie, a cat Dualist who does not know how to step away from fight.

Assisting them is Snappy, a squirrel ranger with little sense of self-preservation.
[imgwidth=800]https://i.imgur.com/XbFgMOc.jpg[/img]

Besides them is Big Ouseux the Sparrow, no one is sure whether the accent is real, but he claims to have arrived from the Pictlands and is definitely of Northern descent.

Lurking behind them all is a rather shy bat known as Batty. Master of poisons and sneak attacks.
The band is small, but has access to many unusual items.

Good stuff, I keep wondering if it would tempt my wee one...

There are some fantastic figures in the range, my favourites include the Vixen bounty hunter (great "motion" in the pose) and the Dandy Highwayfox.

Is he a predicate dualist, a property dualist or a substance dualist? :)

Whatever ... lovely figures, beautifully painted and well photographed!

Title: Re: Burrows and Badgers 28mm anthropomorhic animals

Gravity draw - flies up, makes a rapid dive, then halts suddenly allowing the sword to slide loose from the scabbard, which he then catches in his beak then swoops and dives slicing and dicing to great effect.

Obvious really...

A new gang, stoats.

I bought two Shinty stars, one is as it came, but Smalls is sporting the best strip ever, and heavily converted one to a fully armoured Stoat, my gang leader, Sir Dereck, whio has been cruelly thrown out of his home by Royalists while crusading.

In our last adventure, my gang picked up a new member, a small character liberated from a slave trader.

Introducing Berry Town , the Shrew. Armed to the teeth and very very annoyed with his previous treatment!

I also picked up a great figure, a Shrew knight errant mounted on a stag beetle!

These are on 32mm bases, which shows how small they are.

Again, they paint up beautifully.

Love the skull and crossbones on the shield

Love the crests on their helms, very Rocketter!

Three new characters for Burrows and Badgers

After the battle with the slave trader, one of the freed mice turned out to be a rather zealot witch hunter (L'Otter and Bowie laughed at this, a lot). Darkness hunting was definitley on the cards while Flint Browncoat was with them.

His blessed spear is primed, ready to smite the unholy (or anyone else who gets in the way).

What he doesn't realise is that Bowie has conned him into thinnking it is holy spear for a few pennies.

Not in the Freebeasts of the Well of Ashes, but also in the area is a Mousetagnan, Mouseketeer, a servant of a different king, searching for missing jewels belonging to his Queen. He does not speak the language well, but he fights like a master.

He fears nothing except his allowence being stopped and running out of wine.

Often heard charging into the fight with the phrase "Paw Leroy". No one knows who Leroy is, but they assume he is important.

He is accompanied by a mysterious, pale fox he calls Alk. Maybe it is from Alalb Albulisiu, or 'Bloodhound' in his native tongue, from the Northern shores of Afrika.

An expert fighter and sometime healer, wise in letters and herbology.

He speaks rarely, only to moan about the cold.

Starngly, he eschews beer, mead and wine, even warming spirits, but can track anyone, anywhere!

My youngest has been nagging me for a dog soldier (not the film, she's only 9) and with a tiny amount of conversion, here is her Xmas pressie, a female collie by Oathsworn which I have added extra fur to match our new rescue dog Honey (kind of apt, she is a psycho dog)!

Even got the patina on this one

Two more figures.
Shrew chef
Terrifying

Slowly building up a selection of non-player characters for town fights.

Rach wanted long range firepower in her warband, so she opted for a squirrel archer.
Yes, this is the second one I've painted.

Such a fun pose

I was so tempted to try Rangers of Shadow Deep using this line, If there'd just been a few more antagonists avaliable I would have dived into 10mm

For no other reason than I liked the figure, a dormouse ranger.

She's just so full of character
(https://i.imgur.com/3NDrJpE.jpg)

Love the detail of her standing one paw on a rock, and her tail curling around it!

Adding to two different warbands, plus a spare figure and some scenary
On the left, joining The Denizens of the Well of Ashes, replacing the late Berry Town the Shrew, is former Witch Hunter captain, Benadict Otterbranch. On the right, adding to my all stoat/weasel warband, is Ginny The Weasel, a quick conversion of the Oathsworn stoat shinty player, replacing the shinty stick with an axe, and adding heavy armour and pauldroons.

One watches while the other swings!

Two rather decent fellows, in their own way
(https://i.imgur.com/ozZFQKt.jpg)

Just hard hitters both
(https://i.imgur.com/dv3tWxU.jpg)

I normally spend a long time researching the correct colours for these animals, but, this one is...
Teal... Teal and Orange... Teal and Orange and Brown! A platypus! Perry The Platypus!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahx-vDuymwM

Armed with this weird stick that keeps returning to him! He does make an excellent secret agent!

He's a bounty hunter and the cloak is of many furs that did not want to come quietly (don't ask which species).

My windmill
(https://i.imgur.com/pMq7p6J.jpg)

Too big for my lightbox

Just needs Windy...

'Straight outta Trumpton!'

Scenary made from the door pushout of the windmill, a tombstone

Good to see you didn't let that door pushout go to waste :)

Latest terrain piece, a windmill.
It's a big old multipieced, multi-floored kit, which is bigger than my light box, so I grabbed the first dark cloth. Well, not quite dark!

Starry-starry night!

A lot of fun building it.

A few flowers round the back.

"In 1072, a crack Kommando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These animals promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Northymbrian countryside. Today, still wanted by the Royalists, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire
The Aachen Team!"
Dededumdededum...

The new figures, from left, Henlor Kremmel, Rat Necronmancer who was being tracked and secured by the Aa team, when the money ran out. In front of him is 'Face' the Ferret, unit sniper, in the middle, with his ring of striking is BA Barotterous, to his right is Moling Mad Murdoch, and in front is Amiee Amanda, Shrew reporter.
The front figure is an older, but unused, mouse who by dint of seniority, has become the leader Johann 'Hannibal' Schmidt.

The new gang members.

Escorting the mage, their arms ready.

Nearly all armed to the teeth and heavily armoured.

Heavy hitters bright clothes, heavy armour, dark tunnels and dark mages.

After two games last week, the gang picked up a shrewzerker from a slave trader, and the shrew was handed down a double-handed axe, as the boss Johann 'Hannibal' Schmidt picked up a mastercrafted greatsword.

Their next encounter saw them successfully recover a paychest, inside was enough cash with a +3 bow. This has secured the services of a dormouse archer who is now armed with a magic bow!
