Title: Great Pacific War or War of Triple Alliance... or both?
Post by: jaztez on 08 November 2020, 12:51:39 PM
Guys my lockdown madness has fully kicked in and I'm looking at those Pacific War figures.

I have questions I know you can answer!

1. Can the Pacific war figures be used for the paraguayan war?

2. I'm guessing acw and fpw figures can be used to fill in the paraguayan war blanks?

3. Which war would you recommend with the figures available?

IMHO they would be fine for both conflicts at this scale and personally it wouldn't worry me if some units were 'wrong'. Life is too short!

Yep, close enough is good enough these days for me.

So long as all parties can tell what they represent a slight discrepancy in cuffs or collars or the cut of their coats or the shape of their hats or helmets is neither here nor there, especially as the figures go down in scale.

That said, I'd sooner have the right figures if they're available .... I'm not a complete savage :)

I believe most of them will carry over the Triple Alliance easily enough, plus additions from the ACW and FPW as you say.

Thanks guys.

So what can I use for Paraguayan infantry and cavalry? As they appear to have more than a kepi? Seems they worse some sort of tall kepi or hat that looks closer to a shako?

And Leon, a pack or ragged paraguayan infantry and cavalry in those hats and suitably ragged, with the odd wrap rather than trousers would allow people to really put the war of triple alliance on the table properly  :- :P

Would they be commercial though

Well, as pendraken have released stuff like the Korean war and samurai in huge quantities, I'd suggest a few packs of paraguayan troops couldn't be any less commercially viable?

The Perrys have launched a large 28mm range so evidently they think its is...

Or Alan or Micheal are keen to play that period ;)

I don't think they'd be huge sellers as the South Pacific range isn't exactly flying out of the door, but a couple of extra packs could be doable if enough folks want them.

I wouldn't put much in the Perry range launch in terms of commercial viability, they've got a lot of financial freedom in what they choose to sculpt as they're not reliant on the figure business to pay the bills.  They can spend a lot of time on personal interest projects that other companies aren't able to risk unfortunately.
