Title: French horse artillery uniforms
Post by: rangerdad on 19 August 2020, 03:19:57 PM
I'm managing to confuse myself in circles

Specifically early French line horse artillery. Post republican era so I presume in shakos as only Gaurd had busbys ?

Can't work out from the plethora of sources whether they should have tall plumes rather than the shorter later version, and should they have hussar style jackets ?

The excellent 'Officers & Soldiers' series shows that the Mirliton was used prior to 1801, at which point it was replaced by the Shako.

Hope that helps.   Phil
