Love the fact you're using under strength companies; I love games where you're scratching around for resources.

Lovely job Sean :-bd

Gets grip
My thinking behind the under strength company was most of the Osttr Truppen were ex Soviet prisoners of war so first chance they get they'll be off.
Techno
I have the british assault infantry half painted as well as 2 Bns of 6 Para Division. Got 12 tanks to finish of the invading force. Got over 20 german AFV's to paint for both 21pzr Div counter attack then 1/12 SS Pzr Divisions
So still got a ways to go yet

Hi Jack
You haven't seen the rest of it yet lol  ;D
Got the sea borne infantry to finish up to go with the tanks.
Got 6 para still to finish that's just for round 2
Then I've got elements of 21st panzer and elements of 12th SS to finish buying and paint then haven't decided which one but elements of either 7th tank division (Desert Rats) or 1st Guards tank division.

Sean,

The gear looks great, but my favorite part is the sheer size and scope of the project.  With that in mind, I think you have to go 1st Guards and 7th Tank Division.

I'm really feeling the itch to have some sort of 'capstone' project like this, to just make it as big and beautiful as possible (right now I have a slew of small, dingy-dirty 'armies,' nothing to be proud of, just good enough for gaming.  I want something big like this.  I salute you, Sir!

I've got Mother's Day this weekend, so not a lot of time for gaming, but Father's Day is looming on the horizon, which, for me, is a "minis buying" holiday.  Probably need to throw some serious cash at Leon, roll up my sleeves, and get to work ;)

V/R,
Jack

I think your Kampfgruppe Klink is something to be proud of.
Sword beach is only this big because I work away from home for months at a time. Really not much to do bar drink or find a hobby when you live in a hotel.
If you look round my blog you'll see I have lots of different things in progress. Nearly finished my 6m not imperial guards Infantry Division for FWC that's 9 Bns of 9 infantry bases.
Still building my LOTR armies (just started 18 bases of Copplestone Dwarfs).
Also I'm just waiting on an order of 1/300th scale BMD from heroics and Ros to complete my Soviet VDV Rgt. This will complement my Soviet tank Division for CWC.

Sean,

Thanks man, and I'm proud of KG Klink in terms of the knocking out fights in the campaigns, but what I mean is that I want to have a couple armies that are absolutely huge and absolutely beautiful.  I don't know if I can pull of the beautiful part, but huge I can do  :-[ :-[ ;)

It's a great blog you've got there, I particularly like the various modern 1/300 stuff.  I need to look into the LOTR stuff, I like it and my son loves it!

Jack

I've just put up a new W.I.P. For my sword beach British still got lots to do. More Para's some commandos both French and Lord Lovats. Unlike the film he wore proper battle dress with a white jumper underneath  but try finding a piper mmm!

I've just ordered another batch of 6 packs of Dwarves this will give me another 18 bases for my LOTR game. Thinking of going back to Dwarve Goblin wars. That'll give me 36 bases of dwarves, nearly equal to both my Orcs and  Rohirrim. I use the Battle of Five Armies rule book for my games but I guess other rules would work just as well. Next up will be the Khan easterlings already got elephants for them.

The modern stuff is for CWC the Soviet VDV is for the big Cold War Commanders game in September roughly 6-8 commanders a side bringing roughly Bde-Division Battlegroups to the table. My modest contribution will be the 10th Guards Tank Division and a full VDV Regt of 3 Bn's.
Ref beautiful I don't think any of my armies are beautiful but they are big so swamp the opposition. Rather have a big looking game than the same size table with 7-10 figures a side.

Sean

Sean,

"...but try finding a piper mmm!"
I know Pendraken makes them.  I'd take a look at the WWI Highlanders, maybe even the take a chance on the Colonials (I know the Colonial Highlanders have a piper, just don't know how it will fit in with the 'pie-plate' helmets)?

Interesting regarding the LOTR stuff, and I'm a fan of CWC, wish I could be there for the big  'Hannover' fight.

And you're Sword Beach stuff is big and beautiful!

Jack

These photos are the Armies as they stand at the moment but I've got 9 more stands for the Orcs and nearly a dozen for Orc Bows. Also got 17 bases of Rohirrim cavalry to finish off.
My next project (After leaving Sword Beach in UK) is also on there.

Wife is better, thanks for the good will wishes she has gone to Fuerta Ventura this week for a break. So I'm stuck at home watching the Euro's while decorating.
Hoping to kick start the Sword Beach build and try and finish it this year.
But just started reading a book about the real Dads Army so already getting pulled towards early war. Funnily enough I bought a load of early war figures last year.
The job is not at the level I'm used to working at but it pays the bills and the wife is happy I'm back at home working. I've been in Germany since January last year.

Just a quick update.
I have just returned from a week in UK and while
there managed to get to the storage (Covid was asked not to attend)
I managed to pick up my figures for the Sword Beach Build.
so next week or so I will go through the figures and Vehicles to see what I need to fix/re paint/ re base (they were left in an unheated shec and then an ISO Container so all the bases seem to be leaching a salt type crust (will need to investigate further) but these are the MDF bases.
ill soon hopefully be getting internet in my place here in Germany so the blog hopefully will be up and running again within 4 weeks.

(I went mad about 3 years ago and made ~20 of the things in about a week, but now they lie in a shoebox still unpainted :(. Very easy to make though.)
