John, Duke of Normandy (1332-1350) commissioned a revised edition of the Grandes Chroniques de France (http://warfare2.netai.net/14/Chroniques_de_France-1332-50.htm) which was extended to the death of Louis IX (1270). It was produced in Paris and illustrated by Mahiet, Master of the Cambrai Missal.

Those are immediately what I think about when I think of Medieval military illustrations, absolutely brilliant!  :-bd :-bd :-bd
