Title: Huns
Post by: FierceKitty on 29 April 2014, 11:44:47 AM
Could a Hunnic army plausibly have picked up a few units of Dacians as auxilliaries?

Geppids, Alans, Goths yes. Dacians were a spent force by 300. Huns moved into Dacia (modern Hungary) after the Romans under Trajan destroyed the Dacian army in the 120s

How sad. For me, the frustrating thing about late Western ancients is that all the contemporary opponents for the Romans are too specialised.

Dacia is more modern day North central and Western Romainia than Hungary. Various scources state the area  arouund the Carpathian mountains and Transylvania as being Dacia. Borded on the south by the Danube.

The Huns still operated with a variety of allies which would add variety to a Hun army.
