Late 13th century Illustrations of Crusaders & Saracens

Ian Heath based his late 13th century Frankish infantryman (http://warfare2.likamva.in/WRG/Crusades-10-13-Frankish_Infantry.htm) on Histoire d'Outremer by William of Tyre, Saint-Jean-d'Acre, Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, BnF Fr 9084 (http://warfare2.netai.net/13/Histoire_dOutremer-Fr9084.htm) with oval shields  from Histoire d'Outremer, Boulogne-sur-mer BM Ms 142 (http://warfare2.netai.net/13/Histoire_dOutremer-Boulogne-Ms142-f049v.htm)

I must be getting over picky.....But I still find it strange how some of the 'ancient' illustrators were so far ahead of others.
Great find....But I'm not so keen on the style.....I DO thoroughly enjoy seeing them though, so don't get me wrong on that count.
Still...At least we've got some sort of record from 'around the time' (ahem !) for the sadly missed Mr Heath to 'reinterpret'.  ;)

Keep 'em coming D.

Cheers - Phil
