Title: WWI Minenwerfers
Post by: fred. on 10 April 2014, 08:33:57 PM
The Germans had 3 main Minewerfers in WWI
a small 7.6cm one (which is made by Pendraken)
and two rather larger ones 17cm and 25cm

The larger ones are similar in construction, a large calibre short barrel with two recoil tubes above and below. And a simple triangular frame, on a base plate. The wheels were removed for firing.

Firstly does anyone know if these are available anywhere in 10mm?

Secondly if I was to try making these (its only 6 pieces and 3 of them are just the right bit of brass tube, how hard can it be!!) what do I need to do if they were to be used as masters to cast up a few more?

I couldn't find anyone who makes the big mortars for any combattant, I particularly wanted a British 'Flying Pig' and ended up cratch building it

It's not qite to scale but looks ok on the table.

Overall there weren't very many of these on any particular area of front so I'd just scratch build the few you're likely to need.

Dan, that looks really good.

For GWSH, I need 1 of each per division, and an extra 17cm at Corps level.

I'll get some brass tube ordered!
