A plaid is a garment. It is not a pattern. Will the wargaming community get this into their beer-fuddled, anorak-wearing semi-consciousness?

I've met Americans who know better.
"Know better" in what sense? Plaid as a synonym for tartan is standard usage in US and Canadian English.
Since a plaid is a chunk of check or tartan woollen cloth I can quite understand it's use for both pattern and garment.
Dead men don't wear plaid.
Plaid is a music group
Plaid is a British electronic music duo from London, composed of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. They were founding members of The Black Dog[1] and used many other names, such as Atypic (Andy Turner) and Balil (Ed Handley),[2] before settling on Plaid. They have collaborated with female singers Mara Carlyle,[3] Nicolette[3] and Björk,[4] and have released records on the labels Clear, Peacefrog, Black Dog Productions, and Warp Records (along with Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records).[3]
Aside from their own material, Plaid have done extensive remix work for many other artists, including Red Snapper, Björk, Goldfrapp, and The Irresistible Force. Parts in the Post (2003) contains just a handful of Plaid's remix work to date.

You score a basic 8 points with the word at Scrabble too, of course.
Anyway I must object most strongly to the title this thread - My proiblem is the inclusion of the word Sanity. IN THIS FORUM!!! ;D
You are more likely to wake up to find Unicorns grazing on your Lawn, Marvin the Paranoid Andriod dancing for Joy, or that Pendraken have released Incas as well as Aztecs.
Corrections in bold type

I told Marvin about Pendraken releasing Aztecs, and he laughed so much, he fell off the unicorn.

FSN, it is the qualified opinion of most of the members of this forum that you cannot even remember what sanity was, let alone posess any - Go and take your pills :)

It's how salty the water is!

As an opponent remarked to Charles Goren after he failed to bring off a fancy deception play, "I'm not clever enough to be fooled that way."
