Title: 10mm Normandy Town Buildings for WW2?
Post by: jdeleonardis on 26 March 2014, 12:14:19 PM
I want to start a relatively small (on a couple levels!  ;) ) WW2 project based around the Normandy landings and breakout.  My preferred scale (obviously) would be 10mm, using Pendraken's figures, but Im having a hard time finding Norman town buildings (I thinking similar to what they have over at Najewitz Modellbau link (http://www.lasermodellbau.de/index.php/en/component/jshopping/category/view/12) in 1/72 or the 6mm stuff they do over at Leven Miniatures link (http://www.levenminiatures.co.uk/))

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Im leaning toward 6mm, mainly because of Leven Miniatures, but thats not really what I want to do!

I use Leven; they look really good with lots of 10mm figures around them.

I had the same question.  I have a couple TimeCast modern things that I like.  It looks like a lot of their French stuff is more farm-y and townhome-y.  Is that correct?

Oh, and thanks for all of the quick replies!

Certainly understand that!  If you ever find yourself in Mebane, North Carolina, USA, look me up!

You might try Hovels - They do a French range
http://www.hovelsltd.co.uk/10mmrange.htm (http://www.hovelsltd.co.uk/10mmrange.htm)

Bear in mind that the outskirts of most towns, wherever situated, are generally made up of farms and single houses.

A 12mm/N scale option is Jerry's Hobby Junction, under European structures.  I use them with my 10/12mm figures.

Haven't seen those Jerry's ones before - they are very nice looking, and lots of variety. But I suspect shipping and VAT will be a bit expensive.

I came across a manufacturer in Germany who was doing really nice things in various scales - 6mm, 15mm, 1/72 and 28mm. He has now concentrated on the two larger scales but he arrnaged with a German model shop to keep producing the 6mm. There are a few normandy buildings and they are a bit bigger than Leven (although their Cafe Gondree is tiny for some reason). Worth a look, suitable buiding in these two categories:
