...has a keyboard that frequently fails to type the letter m unless I really whack it hard. I don't want my followers to fear I'm succumbing to Hay-Whitton's aphasia just yet; the problem's not cerebral or neurological.
Well, I don't want to nock, but in ny hunble opinion there's a sinple solution.
Just use an "n" instead of an "n", you bun.
I didn't think of that. What a noron I an!
Buy a new keyboard ?
IanS
Laptop.
You might be able to lift and replace the key,
You might want to refrain from that and let someone else do it.
How old is that laptop and any chance for external keyboard?
What about a cordless keyboard? Provided you have a spare USB port, you just plug the dongle in and off you go.
All this would mean less money for new armies and for our trip to Italy this December.
A USB keyboard is about a fiver, so no great dent in the finances.
That's a month's salary out east!
(Blatant attempt to get a compassionate discount out of Leon in his current euphoric state).
It's probably just accumulated dust. There are special bottles of compressed air with a tube like nozzle for this. Or you could try cleaning with a brush with bristles that are a bit stiff. Or go to your local IT-shop and let them do this.
Be brave, FK, be brave - lift the key off - it'll pop off easy enough, clean the debris underneath & push it back on. Will take you all of about 10 seconds :)
Yeah I have removed the keys on my loads of time to clean underneath, dont do more than a couple at once or if your like me you'll put them back in the wrong order
My daughter managed to get a grain of rice under a key, spent months chasing it round until we got it out!
Turn keyboard upside down and tap the back, I just did mine, and found plenty of debris...
must remember not to smoke when typing, stop eating biscuits....Or try a paint brush around the keys,
if you want a real shock open up your Machine and check out the dust on your fan......lol....
remember to wash your hands afterwards...... :)
I have a "Magic Duster" - a small brush with floppy nylon bristles that picks up dust like - well, magic. A couple of flicks over the keyboard and it's done. Great for cleaning flat screen monitors too.
