Guys
I've got an itch to do some Fantasy gaming in 10mm. Any suggestions on rules that work well with this scale and the available armies/figures ?
Kind regards to all
Vulture
Armies:
Medieval are good, but small.
Halflings are fun.
Goblins are brilliant, especially backed up by various nasties.
Desert rats are mad!
Barbarians and Beggers are popular.
Dark Elves are great and not too Games Workahoppy...
Dwarves are beardy,
There's not much to the undead (blame biodegradation) but the range is great.
Rules, I use a mucked about version of hail Caesar by warlord games

I'm intrigued by your suggestion of Hail Caesar, could you expand on what mucking about have you done ?
Impetus has a free fantasy supplement which can also be used with the free Basic Impetus
Ludditte a member here has written some which hopefully will be out soon
Warmaster Fantasy is still available I think for free
There are loads of fantasy rules out there
You could try http://www.freewargamesrules.co.uk/ to see if anything takes your fancy
Oh and to back up ML there is a Hail Caesar fantasy yahoo group
Basically...
Playing goblins vs Halflings they all get as many negatives as possible.the next issue to consider is magic.
Lots of people also like Warmaster, once Bik is finished for the day I'm sure he will add more!
There is also Kings of War I am sure Fred can give you details of that
There are lots of choices. Some I have played
Warmaster - not a bad set, but a bit fiddly, and can suffer from half-your army does nothing syndrome
Hail Caesar - I helped put together some of the rules on the Yahoo group. Basically we took the Flyer and Magic rules from WM and grafted them on, which was pretty easy as the rulesets are cousins. HC has some very good bits (evade moves, unit based) but does tend to bog down a bit. To me it is a good evolution from WM
Kings of War - something totally different, no command rolls, your whole army acts, quite strict movement. And total IGOUGO, in your opponents turn you do nothing but watch. Has a feel of chess at times. But once you get your head into it, it is a very good game, and very quick. We have recently messed around lots and added random activation and both sides fighting. While nominally 28mm it is unit based so can be used with any number or scale of figures.
Seasons of War - just played this recently while notionally Dark Ages it works. Combat is very attrition based. I'm sure we'll invent some magic rules. Uses poly dice for different unit stats.
Mayhem - also poly dice based. Like the activation system (you get action points, and can spend them as you wish, but multiple activations cost more, so the first is 1AP, the second 2AP (for a total of 3) the 3rd is 3 (for a total of 6). The combat didn't quite feel right - to easy to kill a unit on a lucky dice roll.
Saga - again notionally dark ages, but the special abilities are virtual magic! Not tried this in 10mm, but it would work well, with several figures on a base.

Can we make this stick? Stik Bik to Nik :d
Yeah there is Warmaster a simple system, but if it goes wrong you end up sitting for a while. HOTT/DBM is also a possibility. As Fenton said there are plenty of free wargames rules on the link he gave.
I am building up my Barbarian/Amazon army at the mo as well as some undead.
Samurai apes are nice, pity there are no Ninja chimps or orang monks. When I get this lot sorted I will have a go at the other armies. :D
I have every intention of playing Saga in 10mm, but the project may be a little delayed, having lost a crown to a Quality Street toffee at work today... ???
1) why are you playing with an OAPs travel agent?
2) How could you loose any game to a sweetie?
:-\
Nik, dashed autocorrect!

At my age you take what you can get
Quote2) How could you loose any game to a sweetie?
It pays to loose to your sweetie now and again...
There are a couple of sets on Freewargamesrules - several DBM/HOTT/DBA based.

Sympathy, brother. I had some bone surgery two days ago in preparation for a new crown, to be measured for when the strange acryllic coating over have my upper jaw is removed next week.
Have I mentioned that it tastes nasty and I can't brush?
