I am intrigued by the average age on this forum.
This has been prompted by the lack of younger gamers in our club and at shows.
I am refering to the physical age as we are all fully aware the average mental age of this forum is probably just out of its teens.
Oh Dear! Already pulling the average age up (with only 8 votes so far!) and about to slide into the 61 - 70 group in 6 months time!
We do get some younger ones....not many though.

Now do mental age!!!

Least mine is bigger than my shoe size, I think :D

And as a younger member I am very happy to be among gamers that are not, shall we say - limited - in their approach to gaming?
I have very big feet!
Mental age would be more useful ;)
I'm on a 'cusp'.....I'll vote now to keep it at a lower decade. ;)
I was told by a former colleague that I must be the oldest 14 year old in the UK......(I think I was around 36 then :-\)
Mentally, I still think I'm in my late twenties/early thirties.......My body laughs mockingly at this idea. :'( :'( :'(

Well so far this poll has put a bit of a dampner on the old " I'm too old to paint such tiny figures now" argument :P
We do have a couple of members below 20, but I don't think they post very often. There are quite a few 20-30 year olds as well.

Are there any single female forum members in the 30-50 bracket who live within 50 miles of Aylesbury. :)
Might even be unicorns on the chilterns too ! ;D

They don't post that often because they have no need for the Totty Thread - They are out getting young firm totty in the flesh - Yes I am jealous
Nah, they'd be hanging out more boasting about it if that were true. Come on, gentlemen, most of you were young men once; you know the second rule of male psychology.

True, we have had this discussion before. The young totty looks good but the mature toty generaly performs better :d
Yeah but the young stuff, well, their bits all tend to stay where they're meant to, gravity is a bitch.
Young men talk about it, old men reminisce and those in their late twenties/early thirties are actually doing it.
Once children and mortgages rear their heads sex grinds to pretty much a halt!

Yes ! Yes! We know FK. we have been regaled of the delicious meals and cakes your prettier half makes you, how she lights the bedroom with her sultry beauty- You now tantalise us about her gravity defying parts.
While you are indeed a lucky man - Do you really want us all to go and sulk??

After 52 votes cast I am looking at an average age in the high 40s/low 50s. Men (and women) that have seen quite a share of life, take things more pourposeful, slower and after deliberation.
The general attitude and tone reflects this. Hardly any "steam" that needs to be vented, small points being sought or similar. Rather gentlemen exchanging opinions and this is why here is my favourite forum.

Well said that man.

You know when people say to you "Oh, but I'm 21 inside"? They have their own internal age setting?
I've been 66 inside since I was 16.
Getting there slowly.
34 and counting ~X( on the plus Side i finally reached the Point where i like my own Painting-took me only 15 Years to get there ;D
However, 54 is a pretty small sample out of 1,387 members. All the rest may be teenagers. ;)
\Do we know the average age of GW purchasers? 12? 15?

In think the actual purchasers are not the kids but their parents, uncles and grand parents. What 12 or 15 year old do you know that could afford figures at £10-15 a pop, unless they are into something illegal?
Good point. Do we suspect the "end users" are in that age band? Certainly the staff seem to be.

I suspect the GW end-user's age range fits with H G Wells description of the target audience for "Little Wars"
"... boys of every age from twelve to one hundred and fifty – and even later if the limbs remain sufficiently supple – by girls of the better sort, and by a few rare and gifted women." :)

That reminds me of when my 15 Year old Daughter wanted a pair of Dr Marten boots for her birthday last year. We went to the Dr Martens shop in the shopping centre, As we walked in I realised that my own boots were older than any of the staff!

In other words, I've been reading too much HP Lovecraft.
I'm a young and sprightly 58, mentally in my mid to late 20's and still would like to paint without resorting to wearing optical benefits. Dream on!
59 and just a few months short of the big 6 Oh, and Ive had to resort to wearing reading glasses to do what I laughingly refer to as "painting" for the last few years.
The word "painting" refers to me smearing the approximatly correct colour in approximatly the correct area.
Rapidly approaching 52 and despite the best efforts of VisionExpress find it much more convenient to take the specs off when I'm painting; Everything just seems to come into focus, of course when I do this at the optician's everything goes out of focus. Weird :-\
Blimey, we did a similar poll in our wargames club, back in the days of flared trousers, platform shoes, lapels and collars. Average age was 23! When I was tall, dark and handsome. Stooped, grey and wrinkled now. =)
Blimey, I notice there are now seven of us who are sixty-one or over (I turned sixty seven in January). I can remember a time when I thought twenty one was ancient.... :(
QuoteI can remember a time when I thought twenty one was ancient....
That sounds all too familiar. I also remember feeling old when I saw a policmen that looked younger than me :(.
The big 50 this june for me, my minds still young but my body regularly disagrees , ;D
kev
52 this year, so i also fall in the 50-60 group, though my lad who's on the forum is 26 next month, so i suppose we balance out each other.
Quotemy minds still young but my body regularly disagrees
Oh that's oh so true... :(. My back, my knees, my ankle and my arm disagree with my every single day!
Just got the state pension this year which should be good news for Pendraken's accountants :)
