Like both !
Bovril best though.
Cheers - Phil
I doubt if I will ver have the chance to mention this on any other section of the forum and in any other topic
SO
My mum was an original Ovaltiney...not that she liked the stuff or anything
Both, either as drinks or an inch thick layer between two slices of bread!
Definitely Marmite. I don't eat meat, but never liked Bovril even when I did!

Marmite on buttery toast is great.
Either as a drink is very wrong.

Both on Bread.
At the same time?
In a word, Yuk.
Marmite, on toast after many, many beers. There is something about marmite on toast that screams 'eat me' when a triffle merry.
In fact my wife claims she can gauge the scale of the hangover from the size of the morning after toast/butter/marmite disaster zone in the kitchen.
My son is always amused by the fact that at the age of two I used to have little cubes of bread with Marmite on which I shared with Harry the cat, and he absolutely loved the stuff as well. Despite the amusement my son also likes Marmite.
If you coud eat Thatcher she would taste of Marmite :-& :-& :-&

We all know where Google Translate is, you know!
As far as the original question goes:
I'll eat either on bread or drink either hot. Just never thought of it for years. :-\

Good! How did you like your 'Not the faintest idea what's he's on about' moment on this otherwise very informative forum? :d
You wouldn't want to put honey on either Marmite or Bovril, believe me, Olds. :-& :-& :-&
Just awful stuff yuk
take care

Red currant jelly with mayonnaise makes nice sarnies......
And has ANYONE here ever eaten banana and Branston pickle sarnies ?
They sound disgusting !
Cheers - Phil.
Sound like typical Welsh cuisine Phil

Cold baked bean and banana is good, on brown or granary!
Egg and banana pizza is nice

No she would taste of something even worse, but also brown.
Marmite every time...but only on cheese in a sarnie or on toast. Tried Bovril once at a football match back in the day...now I know what snozzcumber tastes like, absolutekly disgusterous!
Actually, while on the subject of strange fillings, anyone ever tried cheese and peanut butter -crunchy of course- in a sarnie?
My stepfather was prone to smearing jam on one half of a slice of bread, golden syrup on the other and then folding the two together.... :o
... and then?
Was it just a hobby? Was his house filled with discarded and inedibly sweet butties? Did he use them as poltices for sores on horses? Did he feed to result to starving waifs and orphans and giggle malevolently as their teeth fell out? Was it something of a more ... personal preference? :-&
Oh, he ate them, of course. Probably explains the ruins of his teeth. Mind you, at ninety I suppose he's entitled to be a bit worn.
Vegemite is my breakfast favourite on toasty soldiers dipped in soft-boiled egg.....
Has anyone ever tasted both Vegemite and Marmite ? (Not together, I hasten to add.) ;)
Are they very similar taste wise ?
Seem to remember 'someone' has said they're almost identical.
Cheers - Phil
My wife eats Vegemite a lot!...I have tried it once, its like eating salt
Marmite for me, although if given a choice I'd go for Vegemite, it's got a nicer taste to it.
Once saw a bloke at work spread Marmite quite thickly on some toast. He'd never had it before. I told him not to but would he listen? He hasn't eaten it since :d

Marmite for me, no liquid cow thanks (Vegetarian here). The only way I can eat peanut butter (yuck) is to have it on toast with a nice layer of marmite on as well. There's something about the marmite that makes it edible, and even actually tasty.
Only way to eat peanut butter is as part of a pbj
That, or stirred into various different sauces when cooking. Which is something I also do with Marmite, or at least Tesco's version of Marmite.
Can't STAND peanut butter......That gets :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& from me.
Though at least you can bait rat traps with it.
Cheers - Phil

So true: caught three rats that were living under our decking with peanut butter, they can't resist the stuff. ;)
Rat on a stick anyone? :)

Try Messrs Ironbeard and Stronginthearm of Tarpits Lane, Anhk-Morpork. ;)
CMOT Dibbler will be after you for trademark infringement
Given that about 50% of the jokes in the author's books are cribbed from other writers, and half the remainder recycled fro his own, such a lawsuit would be a very slippery slope.
That leaves 25% Original work....far better than J K Rowling then ....allegedly I hasten to add ;)
So I can't interest anyone in a mango and marmite smoothie then?
