There will be riots >:(
We had quite a bit of wind and rain over the weekend, we went up on the moors for a short walk and it pretty blustery up on top. Then the snow has started today, so we'll see how long that lasts. I thought I'd managed to get through the winter without having to defrost the car once... :(
Snowing here now - with plenty more later...brrr...
Been wet and windy here in Bedfordshire, but we're heading to the Promised Land (South West Shropshire, Hi Matt) on Saturday. Breaking out the thermals!
Wet and windy here too, but calmed down this morning. My thoughts are with the poor sods in the Levels and the upper Thames. :( :( :(
Hope everyone and their families are ok after the high winds last night
We've been quite fortunate up this way considering the devastation elsewhere in the country. High winds and some closed roads, but no flooding as yet.
PS, I've merged this thread with some of the similar posts in the N-Gauge thread.
power out all night. Entertaining 3 kids without electricity not fun :(
It's been wet and very windy in Bristol but not that much rain as that's been dumped on the Mendips etc before it gets to us. Frankly utterly fed up with this weather as I cycle to work and pretty much no change since December :(. I think we've only had two proper ground frosts this winter which speaks volumes.

The real bummer will be when we
DO have a ground frost; it will lock all this water in. If it's then followed by Spring rain some folks are going to be in a dreadful mess :(
We only had 40-50 mph winds here lat night though heavy snow over lots of Fermanagh and Londonderry
On the other side my Aunt who is in country new south wales as 2 inches left in both her water tanks and will cost $300 for 3000 litres if they want to buy some

OK, volunteers to bore a pipeline through the centre of the Earth?

How much current do you normally give them?
Very windy here in North Lancs last night but only casualty was the Mut's pride when he very nearly got blown over by a particularly violent gust, I shouldn't have laughed...
Sounds pretty rough over there, my sons based at Gosport so i would imagine on sandbag duty this week. Had shed loads of snow a couple of weeks ago here in Hungary but sunshine today , not really had a proper winter this year,( yet) maybe a surprise or two still to come,
kev
I've popped a note in Fenton's 'We're back' thread.
It's been frightening over here !! :-SS :-SS :-SS :-SS
Cheers - Phil
Calm and sunny all day yesterday but mega-storm on the way according to the Met Office (but what do they know?)
Well Friday night was a barrel of laughs.
Sound of a small cannon ball hitting our house was not too fun :(
Went out in to rain and wind and nearly lost my head. In the morning I found one of those stupid round metal spinny things that sit on chimmneys . Oh and half my roof tiles all over the place. Some impaled 4" into the ground!
I now have half a roof and someones elses spinny thing (not even scratched!) which I am willing to install free of charge up their jacksy. >:(
Sigh, no new toys this year :-S

I am glad I no longer live in the basement flat in Southsea that I used to

Your house insurance should cover this I would have thought.
For us we survived with no damage which suprised me given that we had around 12 hours of continuous gale force winds. However plenty of trees down and missing fence panels in our area :(.
I lost my BBC channels on youview, but that is all.

Are you writing to your MP about it?

Here in Ghana when it rains, its like having a bucket of water thrown at you...the wind storms are small, but however, my garden umbrella, enjoys random flights,
Only down side is after the rain, Cobras and the like start moving around, so all my staff reach for their Machete...
My garden path is a no go zone at the moment due to a Black Mamba sitting in a bush...
Even my staffy is not impressed by that...
That is one thing I do not miss about West Africa. My wife hates snakes with a vengeance, but then she has seen too many people die in her village from snake bites :(.
More than 500 people lost their lives in our last big floods here, a few years ago. Needless to say, Fanny Adams has been done about preparing for the nexxt ones. :(
I have a hose ban here, as some locals keep nicking the tap fixings, and one tap was completely stolen, leaving a fountain, in the villa garden.
its 25 degrees here and its passed midnight.....
Anybody would think you were in Africa.....
Least there are no snakes in Birkenhead.
IanS ;)

If only there was a way to export the rain that falls here.
We'd all be rich..........rich I tell you. (Maniacal laughter !)
We had a 'drought' yesterday.......So I had the joy of cleaning most of the guttering.
I've got the nasty high one one to do this morning......So if I'm absent for a while. it means I've fallen off the ladder.
Cheers - Phil.
If worse comes to worst, can I have your figures to cherish in memory of you?
There really aren't that many FK !

let go an almighty asjghdgdhgyrsybnaaaaaaghhhh! and grabbed my guest,ha,ha...
Needless to say the snake escaped....as the security guy was watching the female tennis match.....top totty......ha,ha,ha...
An eres me thinin youse all young and innocent ........

I nearly caught the sun today,
The ref ruled pass interference though!
I get the impression that the weather's trying to lure us into a false sense of security.... :-\

Thats why I moved to East Anglia. Best weather in the country and as long as you live inland you dont have to worry about your house falling into the sea in your lifetime.
I look at what the rest of the country is getting and have a wry smile.
Yep, back to cold and clag again today. Ho-hum!
It's STILL sunny.

Though it sounds as though a lot of folk in the UK are waking up to a 'pea-soup' fog !

No, just a bit of mist in the valleys. Burning off nicely now. And, hey, there's that big round yellow thing again. :)
Misty here, not too bad....remember heavy rain over the Principality later today....
IanS
I spoke too soon.
Quick drive to the local town early this morning.....Sunny when I left....But got foggier and foggier the closer I got to sea level.
By the time I got back it was trying to 'fog'.....Tho' I'm hoping it'll burn off quite quickly. ;)

Now sat in the garden on another sunny day collating the cricket fixtures for the forthcoming junior season. This morning (whilst it was a trifle foggy) I was at the gym and this afternoon once the fixtures are done it'll be more studying in the garden with curly sandwiches and Pimms.
What-ho! Pip, Pip!
Spiffing, or what ? ;)
Cheers - Phil
Really misty this morning - visibility down to twenty yards in some places. Still some morons driving around without lights. >:( >:( >:(
Same over here, Ray.....Can't decide if it's fog, or just low flying cloud.
Cheers - Phil.

Another belting day here in posh Sunny Suffolk :D
