Hi all
I am currently making a battlefield for Second Battle of Corinth. I need some railroads to this and are thinking about how to go about this. The railroad needs to be for 6mm scale to fit nice with the 10mm:s... Anyone got any good ideas?
So far I am leaning towards to cut up a lot of cardboard in small strips and start putting them down on the board.

Leven miniatures sell 6mm track as does irregular miniatures...Best bet maybe just to buy some Z scale model railway track

Irregular Miniatures offer some stuff in 6mm in their scenic section. But perhaps a trip to your local model railway shop might be a better way to get track?

I wouldn't build track but, then again, I don't build anything.
If you are "hell bent" on doing it from scratch ask Craig (tiny terrain) but I agree with the others: buy it :)
Hi
Yes you can make it, and if your really interested ill drop you an email with some ideas, but to be honest just get on ebay and buy some n scale track. I bought about 6ft and some nscale rolling stock on ebay for next to nothing last year, and then scratchbuilt "Big Bertha" my armoured railway gun, and an armoured carriage for 10mm AVBCW.
I am a great believer in build it yourself, but there are some things that arent worth making, becuase the effort you have to put in outweighs the result you will get. This is a case of buy the track, and use the time you would have used to make the track on perfecting the scenery and structures around it so the whole table looks stunning.
You could take lots of time to make stunning track pieces and no one would notice it, but get it wrong and it will pull down the whole table.
Cheers,
Craig

I'm with TT. N gauge is pretty much 10mm scale so there's loads out there to buy - and track must be fiddly as hell to make.
Go to the Junior Generals web site, they have track you can print for free, just resize to what you need.

Thank you gentlemen for the input on this subjekt. Since I am to use this on a small board for Volley & Bayonet I need the tracks to be small. I will order some tracks from Leven miniatures since they have 6mm tracks and I hope they will fit the bill for me. Or else I have some spare tracks :). Now I only need them in about 2-3 weeks so I hope this will go smooth.

If you need it Irregular Miniatures also do an ACW-style loco and rolling stock in 6mm. If you want 10mm then relatively cheap locos often crop up on Ebay.
Hi again
I have now made a decision on how to make my railroads. It may not be the smartest decision but at least it is one and I can get on with it... The decision was to build the railroad by my self. A bit time consuming, yes :-\ but quicker than order some and wait for it to arrive and then incorporate it to the board. Here are some pictures of my board fot the Second Battle of Corinth scenario for Volley & Bayonet. The board is only 72x72cm since I have rescaled V&B from inches to cm.

My work table all cluttered up. But it is a nice space to have when you do this kind of thing.

Half of the board that soon are finished. The unpainted line at the bottom one are were one part of the railroad are going to be.

...and after railroad.

Well this is how I am doing on the board and with 29 days to go before the board needs to be done I feel pretty confident that I will make it ;) (famous last words...)
