Not bad so far...
EDIT: Pic resized.
Nice touch to add the standard 8).
Looking good so far, Will. I like the idea of the "cobblestones of Budapest" if that's the way you're going to finish them.
Yes. I'm that sad that each platoon has different cobble pattern.
I've spent ages on Google researching them! :-B

:o. Tell me it isn't so! Please! Tell me it isn't so. I am deeply conflicted - this is the sort of thing that I - I mean we - do, but to this degree? What next? Green gloves for the officers, but only for the first battalion, of the Brunswick regiment in 1870? Oh, yes I did that already! :)
Mollinary
So did I!
2nd and 3rd battalion wore white gloves BTW...

No, it's the one that fell on Neddy Seagoon's head from the top floor of the Titicacan embassy. You can just see his boots sticking out from under.

Will, your booby traps are brilliant. Career with acme maybe?
Nicely done, Will, nicely done :-bd
As a confirmed magyarophiile - very nice indeed!
If your army is meant to be besieged in Budapest, there is some other funky stuff you could have (though I suppose if it is for FOW army lists then you won't be allowed it). I seem to recall that among the booty the Soviets captured in BP were a Matilda - ex-Soviet Lend-Lease, I suppose - and an Italian M13/40 (or M15/42?), which I think had belonged to a German security unit. And I think the Royal Hungarian Gendarmerie used both Csabas and CV33 tankettes in a dark blue police colour scheme. And then there is all the motley collection of militias and assault units ... but I guess you've got all this covered, FOW's Hungarian resources seem pretty well researched ...
Chris
Didn't know about the dark blue Csabas! I can feel a repaint after the competition!
Excellent Lemmey, great idea with the rake ;D,

Work in progress (A rake's progress?)
Oh, dear! Is it possible to be expelled from your own thread, Will?
have you considered the row of upturned soup-plates that held up Soviet tanks for hours in 1956 when placed across the road?
Love the armoured cars, though. :-bd
Don't take my word for blue Csabas, I could be misremembering, it might just have been the tankettes or neither - it's been a while.
Chris
Glad tidings for those who want blue Csabas and tankettes! My good friend Dr Stenge confirms:
"The Budapest police forces had around 10 Ansaldos and 2 Csabas in 1944. These were painted in "police blue", dark blue (it was maybe a kin of blackish blue)."
Chris
Hmmm, tempting for my PBI Hungarians, except they're actually Homsved and not Gendarmarie, so maybe I need a new army... what do WW2 era Hungarian Gendarmarie uniforms look like again?!
That's a certainty for the paint queue then!

I know what you mean mate :)
There are plenty of occasions when the gendarmerie fought alongside honvéd units - certainly once the war reaches Hungary in 1944. IIRC, gendarmerie companies were formed into battalions and routinely attached to honvéd formations. You can legitimately have them on the same pitch as your StuGs or whatever.
For uniforms, this is the book you want:
http://www.hkhermanos.hu/kiadv%C3%A1nyok/sipos-andr%C3%A1s-magyar-kir%C3%A1lyi-csend%C5%91rs%C3%A9g-egyenruh%C3%A1zata-%C3%A9s-felszerel%C3%A9sei-1920-1945 (http://www.hkhermanos.hu/kiadv%C3%A1nyok/sipos-andr%C3%A1s-magyar-kir%C3%A1lyi-csend%C5%91rs%C3%A9g-egyenruh%C3%A1zata-%C3%A9s-felszerel%C3%A9sei-1920-1945)
Of course in action they mostly wore standard steel helmets and didn't look much different from regular honvéd infantry, but for a tabletop army you surely have to go for the more unusual millinery.
NB the paramilitary gendarmerie (csendőrség) are different from police (rendőrség).
Chris
Drat, I thought that might be the case; from the piccies my normal Honved would be fine, assuming that everyone's put their tin hat on!
I might pick up some L3/33's or a Csaba at some point if I get round to it. Currently the Hungarian armour I possess is actually... three field guns and a Pzr 38 :D
