Title: 10mm Watermill - WIP
Post by: TinyTerrain on 16 January 2014, 07:24:09 PM
Hi,

Me again :D

Another terrain project on the go....this time a 10/15mm watermill.

The basic structure is finished:

I just need to add some planking, some etched stonework and a few details before painting it to match the barn.

More details and pics on my blog:

Cheers,

Superb construction.
:-\ Please don't shout at me, but I think the water is wrong, it would be channeled off in a leat, so you can cntrol the flow.

Lemmey,

Your right about the water, but this is my pre-existing river which I am not prepared to ruin by gluing any extra detailing to/adding fake white water.I aint that brave (or stoopid)  :D

Both buildings are seperate free standing pieces so what I might do is create a 3rd free standing piece which is a foam block carved to look like a stone wall that sits across half the river channeling the flow under the wheel. A bit like this:

Superb pieces Craig.

Hats off to anyone who can produce that sort of work.

My brain can envisage the end result but sadly it can never transfer that successfully to my fingers :(

The great thing about watermills is they fit any period from the sixteenth century up to present day.

Thanks for all the comments......so like all my terrain the water mill is modular, giving me plenty of options when laying out my table. Here's a section of the river, Steve's original barn and my recently made add on mill annexe as separate parts :

And the mill "constructed" from the front:

and the rear:

The annexe was a simple block of foam with stones etched into it, some corrugated card, and some roof slates from my bits box. The paint job was done to match the barn, and some foliage added to match the barns ground cover. I just need to make the stone leat which will be a 10 minute job using some more foam.

A big thank you to Steve J for the barn he gave me which started this project.

Cheers,

Craig

You've done a great job on matching your building to mine Craig and the end result is brilliant 8). The corrugated cardboard works a treat IMHO.

Now that Lemmey is happy Craig can now sleep soundly in his bed... ;). Now I just want to see a 'The Eagle Has Landed' scenario with the mill centre stage :D.
