Hi
I just paid for my Mongols and am looking forward to receiving them so I can add to my 10mm Impetus armies. Currently I have Lusitainians in the paint shop, Arabs and Crusaders on the shelf and Mongols in the mail. I am looking for another 10mm ancients gamer in St john's
Anyone out there?
Stu

Impetus any good?
Hi
I believe Impetus to be the best ancients rule system I have ever played. I believe it to be the best system around for modelling troop type and weapons system interactions. The command system is robust and the army lists are comprehensive. I own 6 completed armies and I am adding to those armies because they all fight very differently. I have heard the complaint that the games are dice dependent. I have not found that and a novice player that cannot handle their army will invariably loose to a veteran who understands the strengths and weaknesses of their army.

Have we ever said 'Welcome to the forum' to you Stu ?
If we already have...my mistake....If not.... Welcome ! ;)
Cheers - Phil.
Thanks Phil,
I'm not sure, but thank you all the same. Glad to be here.
While I have your attention, we need a solid line of biblical figures. I might get some of my local gang to buy 10mm biblical armies if you are there ahead of a decent 15mm manufacturer...
I'll buy them anyway. My 32 Carthaginian Elephants look great on the table. A large number of Chariots would be equally appealing!

Cheers Stu, and welcome aboard.
Might be looking to purchase Impetus soon :-bd
HI
Might be wise to hold off for a bit. There are a number of downloadable updates and a second edition is due sometime in 2014. Browse the Impetus site, and have a look at the basic rules. The army lists are online and, like DBA, use a smaller subset of a full army. In any event the forum is very helpful.
Glad I could be of service.

I have stuck with Basic Impetus..I have to find small periods of time to game now so basic impetus fits the bill nicely as does basic Baroque

Hello Mr Gibsonca. Are you of the Shropshire Gisboncas? Welcome to the forum.
I'm with you on the Biblicals. Think you'll find a few threads asking for chariots armies. Personally I'm looking forward to Dendra armour.
Where is St Johns?

He was here last night, coaching a new player. Jet and I have been gaming for over a decade, and it was he who introduced me to impetus. He is firmly in the 15mm camp now. He did paint a 10mm Carthaginian Army (pendraken) but could not get any takers on painting a 10mm republican army. While I also have a Carthaginian army they are based for DBX not Impetus. I have some samples of the New Romans and I am painting a Lusitanian army and if and when I get them done we will probably play a game or two. In the mean time we are playing 15mm. I really like 10mm and need some support to push the scale...
Stu
Ah so your the infamous Stu then ? :)
Maybe you need to do a couple of armies...he seems to have only Medieval in 15mm

Hi
St. John's is in Newfoundland, Canada, closer to Ireland that anyplace else in North America.

Yes , that would be me :-[. I have Crusaders and Muslims, but have not painted them yet. We both have multiple 15mm armies, Jet 2-3? I have 6. But I want to do 10mm to the 15mm basing standard. I have 15mm because that is what others have built. But biblical armies, there is an opportunity
Stu
A lot of 15mm biblical isn't that good...I have bought quite a bit of it over the years never found any I like

That is the only reason we have not done any armies in 15mm. Both Jet and I would like to build some biblical armies but we are not happy with the available 15's. If there was a new 10mm range I would be there. Assyryans for me!
