I don't know how David Nicolle's version can have more detail than the drawing he based it on.

I can see how the illustrated conical helms became our cartoon that you have featured D, he's very cute in his own way. You could see this being interpreted in so many ways! :D

The seven foot warriors must have been impressive, one wonders it the people they were based on we're ever near that height!

But how did the picture above gain a conical helmet with nasal in David Nicolle's version based on it?
