Post by: Leon on 07 January 2014, 01:19:44 AM
The 2014 show season starts with a bang as we pack the van and head down the road for the Vapnartak show in York!  We'll need any pre-orders in before Sun 26th January please, and more info can be found on the York club website: http://www.yorkwargames.org/Vapnartak.htm

Does your van usually bang when you head down the road?  :o

Looking forward to seeing some people tomorrow/today!  Hopefully the wind dies down a bit as it's pretty gusty out there.

This years Vapnartak was an excellent day, crazily busy for the first 3-4 hours.  We also managed to record to quickest ever unload of the van, with everything out and into the venue within 20 minutes of arriving, so huge thanks to the York club members for all the help carrying the stock in!  Overall I think it was our best day trading at this one, so looking forward to next year already!

There's a few blogs with pics online so far:

Yeah, the bases unit was looking a little sparse by the time we finished, but at least it was easy to carry back out to the van!

That's a shame, there were quite a few of them knocking about.  We need to get some kind of badges made for us all to wear at the shows, so we know when we're walking past another member.

T-shirts?*

Or maybe a rolled umbrella and a copy of The Times?

So many options!

I would not claim to be fit to spit upon the shadow of the dread Dark Lord.

I suggest Pendraken false moustaches.  (I can knit them if required.)

"You can do a lot with 10mm" on the badge. :)

I use the same name on just about all the for I visit, so I'd just wear a sticker with my name on it. That way others from other fora would recognise me too and say hi / punch me inna face.

You used to be able to get clear plastic, oblong shaped 'sleeve type' badges with a safety pin on the back.
All you had to do, was slide in a piece of card.....With or without a pre-printed logo....have a space for a hand written name..and 'job done'.

Those might work if they're still available. :-\
Cheers - Phil

You can usually pick them up really easily, they also do ones with lanyards on (we use them at conferences a lot). If you can't find them, getting clear plastic card holders and taping a pin to the back works too.

I'm thinking more of some type of simple badge with a logo of sorts, so folk aren't walking around with their name emblazened across their fronts, but we can all still identify each other...?   :-\
Title: Re: Show: Vapnartak, York
Post by: fsn on 09 February 2014, 11:26:27 AM
How about a sash with merit badges? I'd already have the "over 30lb lead mountain", "ordered it and forgot what for" and "Centurion lover" badge. There could be "Painting Comp Entrant", "Painting Comp Winner", "Painting Comp Patronised" badges; "LoA and Proud", "Favoured by Dark Lord",  and "Over 250 Tank" badges, and many, many more.

Of course you'd need a rank badge too. Perhaps colour coding - pale blue for cadets up to crimson for staff ranks.

The future Pendraken forum member attending a show could look something like this ...

They all look like that and drive Centurions, will that not be a tiny bit tiresome after a while? and not a bit of tartan in sight shame on you fsn.
The badge could be a small silhouette of Leon with a clone name/number upon it,

Aye, but if they were standing in the turret of a Centurion and you were inside it ... you'd see the tartan.

Shall we all have a secret handshake too?

Perhaps a circular badge, with something distinctive on it - say - oh, a penny farthing or something easily identifiable like that. And then perhaps a number on it - the number of accession to the forum, perhaps?  And then we might dress similarly, flannels, blazers, that sort of thing?   Done before?  Oh, come on - what are the chances of that?  :-\. Still, we are all prisoners of our fate!  ;)
