A little question about battlefield in a box products from battlefront's flames of war.
Does anyone use their stuff alongside pendraken miniatures?
I am looking at getting some of the generic stuff, like the streams, ponds, swamps and craters:

I have quite a bit of their stuff, some is better than others. The generic stuff will serve you we'll, but you will also find similar for less on the web.
Thx!
Really just interested in a good setof rivers, but thought i'd ask about ;)
The rivers are good but careful how you store them, they can warp.
Good to know! I was first thinking about just taking blue felt and make rivers out of that, quick cheap and easy! I'm just looking into some alternatives now
Do yourself a favour and look at some real rivers. Strauss notwithstanding, rivers are seldom anything like blue.
Yes, but bringing some colour to the board is always nice!

You may want to visit Timecast too while not wide rivers they make nice streams.
As for rivers not being blue well umm i dont suppose we are talking South Island NZ then :D
We have some of the trees at our club, fit it ok but the bases usually need bending back to flat
Also try Baggage Train.

For rivers is it cheaper to buy roads ( rubber) and just finish them off as rivers yourself
Thx for the replies all!
I use the Battlefront river (which I was given as a present) regularly.

It's perfectly adequate as a major river and you get two bridges in the set which are also usable. Not sure I'd have bought the thing myself at their prices though.
Looks nice!
I actually found a pretty nice affordable river on ebay! Might just go that way, he also supplies it in the muddy variation

They look good, Peter. You might also like to try Fat Frank, also on E-Bay. He does that sort of terrain in various scales at reasonable prices. All the roads in my pic came from him.
Hi Peter
Sorry to be a bearer of bad news but I wouldn't bother with the eBay ones you found. I got some to use as moats around my castle. Build quality isn't fantastic, and they sit very high of the table. Also not the flattest of rivers I've seen.
In fact I've never used them, they've remained in their bubble wrap!
Cheers,
Craig
I have some original Bellona river sections, and found I can supplement them with scratch built sections using 'Painters Chalk' and plastic card. I use railway platforms for urban sections of riverbank - looks like a levy and fits well with N gauge kit bridges
Like Pete, as I fight in the Carrabin/Latin American post war actions - I like my rivers, lagoons and seas to be blue.
Saw too much of mud, rain and black muckish water in real life.......

How high do they stand on the table? I use a faux fur fleece throw, so it's possible they will 'sink' a bit when on my table, this coupled with the heigth gained from the mdf bases might be enough to upset the problem.
Apologies Peter i only just spotted the reply. The River stands 9-10mm off the table. I also use a fleece and they still look too big for my liking.
I have about 4 and half foot of straights and 4 90 degree bends if anyone wants to buy them from me?
Let me know,
Craig
IS it the river or the stream?
I use the rubber river from Magnetic Displays/ Coritani

If the order isn't placed within two days, the chances are you'll buy something else.

When ICI had a Copper Sulphate day the Clyde was as blue as a Ranger's strip.
Them was the days.

YEs it's a very nice game! Spend about 145 € on it too :P :P
Got me the core set, falcon, Y wing, advanced tie, tie bomber and an extra tie fighter, and ordered another x wing, wich they didn't have anymore. Bought a little compartement box for them too today, so all is stored nice and fine for 5 €.
Oh, and i splashed out some more and bought memoir 44. :D
I really like Memoire 44. I have the Russian Front expansion too which I think is a nice add-on.
X-Wing - is that the thing with what looks like the old Micro-Machines Star Wars ships on Wings of Glory stands? I have shed loads of Micro-Machines figures and ships somewhere. Maybe I should get the rules!
I just bought in on the starter, just to have something to fiddle with. I play memoir online from time to time and like it so thougth i might as well buy it.
IT's a superb game! well presented and nice value for money, and fun to play!
