Hi
Thinking of getting some Pendraken samurai for a boardgame I got last xmas and haven`t played yet.
It came with 20mm hard plastic figures which are quite frankly a b***ache to put together and store, some of the yari`s have snapped already.
So I was thinking of replacing them with 10mm metal figures instead.
The thing is samurai armour has always put me off.
So how would any of you lot go about painting them.
I was thinking of one side in blue and the other in red.
Cheers
Jim.

I always undercoat mine in black, then use Acrylics (Citadel range-Games workshop)
Banners I get from the net and re size in Photoshop, I then glue the banners to cut down paper clips
Oda Clan and more....

I hope this helps
The red armour idea is certainly historical. The Ii clan samurai all wore red laquered armour and were consequently known as the "Red Devils."
In 10mm scale I'd say it is more important to give the right overall impression rather than trying to replicate all the intricacies of samurai armour.
For most clans the predominant colour for armour would be black and as marie says a black undercoat with significant details picked out can look very effective.
But remember never paint Samurai with red shoes, it was a huge insult and a sign of effeminate tendencies! :-\
Damn! Does that mean I'm going to have to rewrite my film script for "Samurai Pope"?
;D ;D ;D
Remember the possibilities of indelible marker pens. They could help you as much with lacing on Japanese armour as they are currently helping me with Celtic tartans.
That last term is not a redundancy, by the way. There are Asian tartans too.
Dear Mr Kitty,
So, by implication, indelible pens are not suitable for Asian tartans? Pray tell, why not? :-/
Hi
Red shoes are still a sign of effeminate tendencies in my opinion. :D
Jim
No such inference exists. There might have been those who had never visited the Lanna states, however, and claimed that all tartans were Celtic and that I had fallen from my normal Shakespearean standard of English in using a needless adjective.
I feel moved to quote Schiller at this point....

Depends on the height of the heels Marie, they must be at least 5 inches or you'll be stopped at the border
