Title: Burmese inquiry
Post by: FierceKitty on 17 December 2013, 06:10:02 AM
What are those strange, elongated, Mayan-looking medieval Burmese caps? Hats or helmets? Bronze, iron, felt, leather, wood, or something completely different? Coloured or plain? I know I've just been there myself, but we didn't visit Yangon, which is the location of the big museums.

Hello FK

I have the old WRG Armies and Enemies of Ancient China which shows the helmet but it doesn't talk about their construction.

There is a discussion of them here:- http://fanaticus.org/discussion/showthread.php?t=1258 (http://fanaticus.org/discussion/showthread.php?t=1258) which talks about them being gold or bronze. This was a very nostalgic thread for me since I sculpted the figures for Hall of Ancient Warriors  =).

Not much to help you but there is a Yahoo group which deals with Asian stuff http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/AsianWar/ (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/AsianWar/), they may be able to give you more info.

Cheers
