I don't know where they're made, but Magister Militum have some attractive Byzantines; I'm not keen on their horse, but their spearmen are lovely front-rank skutatoi.  A critical eye will also find sundry late Roman Pendraken figures in my Byzantine army, wondering how they time warped into the middle ages.
I'll see if I can post some pix in the next few days, if you like.

Norman mercenaries (easy to get; everyone makes Normans) and Alans (Copplestone fantasy 10mm).

Pendraken figures - staff slinger psilioi - and Mag. Mil. Varangians. Pendraken peltastoi from late Roman auxiliaries, I think.

Kataphraktoi or klibanaphoroi from Pendraken Sarmatians and late Romans, with added shields; and Emperor Manuel Monophallos Kantacousinos, who is Mag. Mil. again. Skutatoi at the back are M. M. for the front rank, imperial Roman auxlliaries for the rear (not sure if they're Pen. or Irreg. Min.).

More skutatoi, with Pendraken dark ages archers on hill as Isaurian light foot.

More super-heavies, and some Pecheneg and Cuman light horse in support. Photography courtesy of Krisanan, my better half.

unfortunately Pendraken don't do Byzantines so I was forced to go to Old Glory, they have an excellent range with very good horses.

Hi,

Glad to be back, it's been a mad year, new job etc. been doing some stuff but not as much as I used to  :(

Byzantines are one of my favourite armies, we played a refight of Yarmuk last Friday, Byzantines Vs Arab conquest using WMA, just over 4000 points per side, the Byzantines scaped a win on points but it was very close, either side could have broken, which is pretty much what happened historically.

Here are a few more pics of the Byzantines.

Thanks for all the nice comments, Byzantines and Arab Conquest are two armies which are very much a labour of love, the standards are all Little Bigmen Studio 15mm which don't seem to suffer from being used in the smaller scale.  For the Byzantines I've used not only the 'official' Byzantine banners but also Russian Banners (lots of icons) Saxon and Norman banners (simple crosses and geometric blocks) and 28mm Norman Lance Pennons (more simple crosses and geometic blocks)

Nurses are of course kind, caring profesionals who would never dream of crushing a patients delusions, not matter how rediculous ;)

And great images of byzantines armies!

Any ideas for byzantines of XV century?
