Hello
while looking at some posts here and here, I was wondering about your "avatars" ( profile own picture) :-\
Does it have a special meaning ?
a special history ?
If it is reaaly your face, is it a recent picture ?
I've been using mine for ages now, can't remember why. It's a real photo of La Commune de Paris (1871). ( May be time to change and use a new one ? ;) )
Mine is either one of my figures, or this one someone did for me in response to the 'Does the Daily Mail hate you' quiz!
Yes. That's really my face.
Actually, since the release of the C word, and the disappearance of the other C word, I've been as happy as a pig in clover.
Thinking about changing it. I'm not sure to what, but I can promise that it won't be a photograph of me.
Currently one of my characters from "Runes of Magic."
The Rabbit head is actually a helmet rather than the characters face ... apparently.
Have been considering changing to one of my characters from EVE Online who looks rather more like me.
Mine's supposed to be a sort of sci-fi eye.
It's actually a shot of the sun taken through the thick base of my old plastic coffee mug....Got lots of shallow cracks and flaws in it.
Cheers - Phil
Mine is a picture of my current residence 8-} 8-} 8-}

That's very clever. As I think I've just said in another thread, the creativity of the members of this forum is amazing. =D>

Techno, I was thinking it was from a Sci Fi Movie. It's great you made it by your own ! ( I d' like to see the pic in real size)
Can I just point out that I've just changed my profile pic. Lovely study of a Bren. It's not me holding it.
;D ;D ;D

It's not me either. :P

It's a digital painting of mine.
I just realized my avatar image has gone missing. It was an image of an AWI soldier. I added it when I was knee deep into my AWI project.
My new avatar is an 18th century British grenadier holding a book. Until earlier this year I had a side business selling military history books at, www.grenadierbooks.com. Early on in the business I had a 28mm figure sculpted to hand out at conventions.
I was looking for a picture of a miserable old git as an avatar and didn't realise until I'd posted it that it was Leonardo da Vinci. Still, he's suitably sour looking.
My original caricature of the late and unlamented Muammar Gaddafi mysteriously vanished about twelve months ago. Anyone finding him, please leave him where he is. :D
Mine's one of my figures, chief of Pictsie clan MacBoak. :)

All the Avatars disappeared at the same time Ray. ;)
Cheers - Phil.
I thought mine was of me as a Polish Lancer... but errrrrr it says I dont have one... have I imagined my time on this forum too, do I actually exist outside of my own head...... :-[
ohhhh my head niw hurts...
time for sleep methinks
Existential doubt? Doubt that exists here.
Nope, as far as my warped imagination is concerned, you exist.
I think, therefore I am:
I'm pink, therefore I'm Spam.
I've got no idea whatsoever why I chose this guy on the camel. Guess I just browsed through my "war pics" folder after having a beer or two and that was it.

;D
it was too small in your avatar, I couldn't see what it was. :-B
I like it now !
DAK Camel Corps anyone?
The avatar that had me fooled for a while was Gordon's.....Until I got really close to the screen with my optivisor on. ;)
Cheers - Phil.
are we talking about GordonY ?
I can't say what is his avatar...
(//)Mine is a closeup photo of a Dragonfly that visited my backyard deck one sunny afternoon.
That's also a good photo !
Mine is my two dogs "bonding", looks more like eating each other if you ask me.
And you chose this as your avatar why?
Mine's a Goat Major. With a Goat.

Being able to see my chap is surely against forum rules ?
But yes, you're right. I wonder how long thats been broken. I'll go and sort it right away.
He's back, and a fine specimen he is too... ;D
That's the one !
Cheers - Phil.
Mine's a picture of my personality.

oh yes, I can guess/see now... ( small avatars, poor eyes ..)
yes, tell us why you choose it.
It was the first picture I took of the new puppy, thats the little white fella aged 7 weeks gamely trying to gnaw the older ones bottom jaw off before his snout gets bitten off.
Mine's a selfie, it's all the rage, so I hear. ;)

When I first saw it..... I saw the bigger dog's jaw as the outline of an eye/eye socket .....With two 'ears' coming out of the top...but being cropped somewhat in the photo.
The bigger dog's darker (real) ear became part of the background....i.e the gap between the two imaginary 'ears'.
I wondered what strange camel like creature's head Gordon had photo'd and cropped....
Said it before....My sense of visual perspective in a two dimensional picture is total RUBBISH !! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Cheers - Phil.

Mine's currently a "Funguy" who I painted for last years competition and I'm quite fond of. I was playing on photobucket and found an effect I liked. Previously it was a fire elemental painted as Jack Frost.
I've also had a variety of elephants during my "wind Phil up whilst he's sculpting the Carthaginian ones" phase.
Cheers!

That's also a good photo !
Thanks, the stars were aligned that day :-)
Mine is me during my involuntary vacation to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Johnny Taliban was nice enough to knock down the school behind me after Uncle Sam had spent good coin building it. This is my standard online profile pic these days.
If you must know, the place is a little backwater called Khakhi Safed, in Farah Province. To say it's in the middle of nowhere is an insult to nowhere. It's not the end of the earth, but you can see it from there.
Mine is a cut away of an Osprey(shh ;)) Hospitaler knight showing the fact that wearing a hankie on your head whilst on holiday in a hot country started around the early 1200's, obviously we Brits now tie a knot in each corner :)
was it around that time that the Franks started getting up early and laying their tabards by the pool ?
Mines a tarot card of the hierophant, but with my face. it also has a copy of the card in its hand, ad infinitum (well, you can't make it out, but it's there!)
Hi
Mine is my Chieftain (T13A), 2 RTR, taken in Canada in 1976. Seems like someone else's life from this distance. I used to use a picture of my grandfather who was in the RA throughout
WWI. I think I will use it again from next year.
Cheers Paul

Mine comes from a Father's Day card that my boys gave me a good few years ago. They thought that it looked like me and expressed my nature.
[The hair should be a lot greyer now]
I tend to use it on all the forums but on Facebook I use a picture that our autistic son drew of me.
Mine's me - a good few years ago now, but enjoying some post-battle shenanigans in Bugman's Bar at one of those mad weekend events (we used to go up on Thursday nights just to acclimatise with Nottingham beer), back when GW were still fun :)
