Hi all
Just a quick post to introduce myself.
First of all i must admit that as yet i do not own any miniatures at all :o but several of my friends do and have suggested that i look on this site for inspiration!
My main interest is military living history where i am a member of the ww1 Durham Pals (who were present at Smoggycon, Sheffield Triples and the Durham Wargames event) and i also cover ww2. Back in the day i used to do a little modelling too, the usual Airfix and the usual Games Workshop stuff.
So just to finish i am now living up here in Durham and hope to be getting some minatures soon to start me off! However i have some questions about this but i will start another post on that issue.
Cheers
Paul

Welcome to the Forum, Mr 76.
From your posts one assumes you're looking at the WWI ranges? I don't dabble (yet) but I'm sure some of the other members will be glad to give you the benefit of their experience.
They're a knowledgeable and friendly lot.
welcome on board !
Thanks for the welcome!
I may be interested in ww1 but i have just posted in the other area of the forum about what i am considering buying.
I think i may be looking at Napoleonics but as i sat all that is on the other post!
Thanks again
Paul
Welcome on board :).
Hello Paul
Welcome Paul. :-h
Cheers - Phil.
Welcome
Welcome. I wish someone would come up with playable WW1 dogfighting rules; any suggestions?
Hello fellow new guy.
FK have you looked at Algernon Pulls It Off by the Lardies? I know, its an unfortunate name given their history of double entounders but it reads well and its older cousin Bag the Hun plays well (even solo).
Ta. I'll look out for it.
There's a free tryout on wargamevault, called air war 1917:
http://www.wargamevault.com/product/59836/AirWar-1917?src=s_pi
I downloaded them but haven't got a chance to read them yet. You could try, it's free anyway.
What's wrong with waving the models around and making "dakka-dakka-dakka" noises?
Noting, but you might scratch the paintjob :o
Hello Paul,
Fancy meeting you here. :)

Leave now...save yourself...get out while you can...pewter is SERIOUSLY habit forming...
Welcome aboard :) You won't meet a more friendly group of metal addicts ;)
However, you need to have built up a real metal mountain before you can call yourself a pewterhead. This place is the first step.
Welcome aboard.

Hmmm. :-\
What do you consider "playable?" I'm fond of Wings of War/Wings of Glory. Tell the truth, the refinement of the system into XWing is quite nice. It wouldn't take much to convert XWing into WWI. I've been working on a WWII version for Battle of Britain games.
Oops, already said welcome. Warning, buying miniatures can be habit forming. Sometimes they even get painted! :o
