Title: Greetings from Illinoize
Post by: Jay Arnold on 04 December 2013, 04:01:29 AM
Well, I thought I wasn't going to be interested in 10mm. Leon, you are indeed a terrible little imp, aren't you?  :D

The SYW stuff looks nice, but ooh, look Medieval stuff and Samurai, yes ...

Oh dear what have I done?  :o

:(

Hehe, welcome to the Forum, glad we could tempt you over!  You're just in time to join in the "100k =£100" competition, all you need first is a few more posts!

Tell us Mr Jay Arnold, form Illinoize, in one lengthy post, or perhaps several bite sized offerings, about your interests and current set up. Tell us, do.

What brought you to the path of enlightened 10mm?

Greetings

This made me remember I've got a load of Late Mediavals stashed away somewhere.  And Mongols are coming.   Hmm.

Regards

Welcome Jay always nice to see a new victim ... face :)

What have you done? Well I started out intending to get a pack of German infantry for a skirmish game and am now well on the way to having a complete German Panzer Division for "Blitzkreig Commander" :)

Don't say you weren't warned!

Well, I can't say I game mostly one thing or the other because my tastes are rather catholic as Henry Hyde would say.

- Started dabbling with Quadrant 13 from Too Fat Lardies using GZG's lovely 15mm figures. Looking to get into Chain of Command in the near future. I have 15s for it as well. And I have I Ain't Been Shot Mum, but haven't played it yet. Would probably use the 15s I already have for it.

- I love Commands & Colors, both Ancients and Napoleonics. Been using 6mm figures for Ancients. I have some 6mm Napoleonic British, but haven't painted them yet.

- As for set up, I mostly play on my dining table. I need to get off my dead ass and get my 1200 sq. ft. basement cleaned up and start turning it into combination gaming space and family room.

- As for 10mm, I have a blister of GW Skeleton Archers. That's it. I could see doing some mass battle stuff using 10mm for fantasy, but the 18th century fascinates me.

I'm married with two kids and a dog. In case you don't know me from other places, I am an Afghanistan vet. I am currently an Infantry Squad Leader and serve full-time in the Illinois National Guard.

Oh, and someone mentioned Future War Commander. I have roughly two regiments of Renegade Legion plastics. I'd say I'm committed at this point.

But that's never stopped me before.  ;D

I find a glance through the Pendraken catalogue is often a harbinger of poverty.

Yeah, but 10 mils are relatively cheap as a hobby. Just think, you could be a member of a swank golf club.  :'( :'( :'(
