Hi chaps,
I've just written my first post so thought it might be helpful to add a note in this part of the Forum by way of introduction.
Anyway, I'm a real wargaming nut, starting in my teens and continuing into my mid forties which is a long time ! Like many,
I started down the GW route then moved into Warmaster, Epic and other Specialist Games. We have a small gaming group
based in my back room in Wolverhampton (only four of us in total). We still enjoy the Specialist games but have also moved
into historical gaming.
Most of my historical armies tend to be 6mm (Great Northern War, ACW and AWI). However, as Warmaster uses 10mm figures,
I've always retained an interest in this scale. I've recently developed an interest in the C17th, mainly ignited by Barry Hilton and
his League of Augsburg group. Leading on from this, I have started a 28mm French Army based on the North Star 1672 range.
This is ongoing but a major cost in terms of time and money. I did think about using Pendraken for this period but their range was
incomplete at the time.
My most recent interest is the English Civil War in 10mm. It was either this or Thirty Years War (the interest resulting from a
wonderful set of pics on Jeffrey Knudsen's War Artisan site) :

I've just ordered several packs of Pendraken ECW figures and am really looking forward to painting these up. To help with this,
I've copied photos of all the ECW figures from the Pendraken site onto a single sheet of A4 - this will then be very useful when
painting the figures up. It also highlights how fantastic the figures are, they can be blown up to quite a large size and still look
superb.
You might be interested in pics taken from my Photobucket account which show figures painted to date :

Finally, I have an interest in Regimental history, specifically charting the lineage of Regiments down the ages. I've created a
set of spreadsheets, one for the French Army and one for the British Army, showing every Regiment raised since records began
together with their fate. I am also working on others for Prussia and Austria. If you are interested in a copy, please email me

Thats it now ! I'm looking forward to having a natter on the Forum and hopefully making some form of contribution. I'll also
post up links to the ECW figures when they have been painted up.
Best Wishes,
Phil
Again, welcome Mr Glorfindel.
Welcome on board Phil. Thanks for the heads up on the book on your other post BTW :).

Hello again Phil
Nice figures, Phil. Welcome to the forum. :)
Thanks for the amazing welcome chaps ! Great stuff.
I'm very much looking forward to getting my Pendraken order through the post and seeing first hand
what you guys obviously value so much.
I've previously painted on a black undercoat but am going to try something a bit different this time
based on a suggestion from my better half (who also paints). I'd like to try a white undercoat
given a coat of blackwash (eg. 'Badab Black'). I like the effect of a black undercoat (you don't have
to paint everything unlike with white and it already provides an edge for your block colours).
However, it would be nice to see the figures better and I hope the white (or grey) basecoat will
brighten the colours.
The oversize photos on the Pendraken website give you an idea of the wonderful detail in the figures
and will really help when painting them up.
Thanks again and hope to be able to show you some finished figures soon !
Cheers,
Phil
