Saw it in 3D at the local Cineworld and absolutely loved it - just what I wanted from the 50th Anniversary episode.

Hats off to the Whovians who'd made the effort and turned up in costume.

Roll on the Xmas special.

What ever they do...

:D

I thought it was excellent.

Lets hope the next series doesn't fall back into the tedious 'monster of the week' format.

Liked it, but left a little flat after the hype

Not sure about the revision of 'history' to redeem the Doctor ....  :-\

It wasn't what I was expecting - it was more like an ordinary episode that suddenly discovered it was about the Time Wars. I'd expected... well, more Doctors taking part. Some extra Companions. A more... special special...

However, it was as well made as ever, and a good story.

Also enjoyed the Three(ish) Doctors, and even the after-show party on BBC 3 - although the presenters were cringeworthy, the familiar faces were very welcome. There was a Pointless special with old cast members during the week too - including Sylvester McCoy & Sophie Aldred, who was looking well!

I've complained for some time (and at some length!) about the unlikeliness of the masters of time and space being unable to find a time/ universe to hide in and save themselves. I am glad that at least one script writer clearly felt the same! The mechanism for saving it - hmmm ... it'll do :)

Went to the flicks on Saturday night and found a queue stretching out the door to see the Dr Who thing. Went and saw Gravity instead. Brilliant - but don't watch it if you're prone to motion sickness.  :-& :-& :-&

Yeah, I found it not as good as i thought it was going to be, although it got better in the latter half.

I just think the writing lately is not up to scratch, I've not been into the Matt Smith doctor, its had a few good episodes, but they've been generally poor in my opinion.

however, the plot did set up the series for Peter Capaldi as the doctor who will rediscover Gallifrey (probably!)

Agree totally:  Matt Smith is to David Tennant   as Sylvester McCoy was to Tom Baker (I do realise they were some time apart but you get the point).

Matt Smith tried too hard and had a very tough act to follow :-\

;D ;D ;D ;D....I heard the same thing Ray....Allegedly some folk have had to leave the 3D showing due to feeling 'seasick'.

Cheers - Phil.

I really liked McCoy - he was written as a clown, but he tried hard to be the Trickster. There was a dangerous wild edge showing here & there, but the stories didn't let him use it.

Of all the Doctors I think my favourite so far is Christopher Ecclestone's "I'm Northern, me. I'm 'ard. You don't want to mess with me I'm The f'king Doctor, me" Dr Who but I've a lot of time for Matt Smith's alternately brooding yet zany version.

Agree with Ithorieal - Eccleston was a breath of fresh air and Matt Smith's approach has been fun too. Tennant was just loud and wide eyed.

Of the 50th, I have to say it's 1 hour 20 minutes of my life I am never getting back, the only highlight of which was the rather cute scientist. If she became a new 2nd companion alongside the very lovely Jenna then I'd become a new viewer...

Do you mean the one with asthma and the Tom Baker scarf? That's Ingrid Oliver, one half of the comedy duo Watson and Oliver.

Thats the one although in this pic she's not quite so cute.

However, should she have an asthmatic emergency I'd quite happily pop round to her's and let her have a puff on my neb mask and O2 cylinder..... and if she were really well behaved she could even have a trip in my amby up to A&E and we could talk about anatomy and stuff...
